Hi everyone!
My season is almost done because of the weather and this sat is the start of hunting season in my area. On a trip last weekend, over a cold one (or two) I asked my wife where she would like to go next summer for our annual bike vocation. She responded that she wanted to go to Nova Scotia. As I also want to go to Nova Scotia, I would like to ask anyone for their opinion on where would be a good place to go in the south. I have five weeks off in the summer so I?m hoping to take two extended trips (2 weeks each and 1 for hunting). So far I have been to Tennessee, North and South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Maine, New Hampshire, Mass., Vermont, Maryland, and Rhode Island. I guess almost all of the east coast except for Florida. I don?t mind traveling the highways but I would like to some country- wildlife and woods. I love the southern country hospitality and the food- BBQ!!!! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I went to Nova Scotia this summer on my Vision.
Lots of straight, well maintained roads through Maine and Canada until you actually get in Nova Scotia.

If anyone in your group has had a DWI, forget about visiting Canada.
A DWI is like a felony in Canada and they refusing entry to all with a DUI.

I spent a 1/2 day in Halifax walking the boardwalk, eating seafood and drinking fresh brewed beer.
I believe there are 3 breweries downtown.

There are "trails" all around the island (peninsula?) and I chose to ride the Cabot Trail which is the most famous one.

Paying with a USA credit card at the pump can be a problem.
Most self serve pumps won't accept them.
You end up having to go inside to pay which is a real bummer.

Nova Scotia (New Scotland) is very proud of their Celtic heritage.
Seeing men is kilts was pretty common in Hotels and Bars.
"Come Away In" is their version of "Welcome" or "Aloha".

We are already starting our plans for next year as well. We want to take two weeks and travel utah, Colorado, WY, and more of Idaho and MT. It's a big order to fill so we may cut a state or two off that list but Utah is the main destination for sure next year. Cant wait....

If you go to Nova Scotia , you have to ride the Cabot Trail..you will not regret. When we were in Nova Scotia , we chose to stay at B&B's,,each place had there charms..Stop at there tourist bureau around noon and they will help you and even help you make reservation for the night..We Stayed 4 night's at different B&B..It's a multi culture Province. Night #1 background of the owner's were Scottish , #2 Irish ,# 3 German and #4 England..and every one of went out of there way to make us feel at home..
Special people those Nova Scotian..

Was on a cruise ship and had a fine day in Halifax, Nova Scotia last month. The day before that we were in St. John, NB. You sure have some great people there. The wife and I had a great time.

Sure looks like a fun places to ride......maybe someday if I live long enough.

I'd like to ride Nova Scotia sometime, but I don't want to have to go through New England to get there!

If you're looking for a nice riding location centrally located in the US, Arkansas is tough to beat.

Bigfoot, and Radioteacher, I wish I would have known you were in Halifax; I would have enjoyed the opportunity to meet and have a coffee or a beer while you were here, perhaps next time.
Vision10, the Hotels range from $100 to $500 depending on where you want to stay, although Lojak has a good idea as well, great hospitality especially in the rural areas.
My wife and I spent last weekend ( Monday was our Thanksgiving holiday) going over the Cabot Trail, and spent an evening in Port Hood and one in Bedeck , the home of Alexander Graham Bell the inventor of the telephone. We had 3 great days on the road, with perfect riding weather.

I stayed one night at a Holiday Inn in Truro Nova Scotia that cost me around $130. (About a $20 premium)
The next night I stayed at a nice, very basic, what should have cost $50, motel on the Cabot trail that cost me around $130.
Location, location, location.
Touring any of the trails in Nova Scotia, it would be best for your sightseeing experience to ride them in a direction that keeps the ocean on your right.

I've stayed at Holiday Inn Expresses that were pretty much equal in appearance, cleanliness and comfort with prices ranging from $65 to $130.
The cheap one was in OKC, the expensive one was near Yellowstone.

Best Western Hotels cater to motorcycles and offer a wipe down towel for your scoot to get the bugs and dust off. (Nice)

Most hotels/motels I've stayed at allowed me to park my scoot right outside the front door where the night staff can see it from the desk.
All you have to do is ask.

We'd love to have you come to our fine state - some of the most varied/beautiful country anywhere! Me and a buddy(and our rider-wives) are in the Salt Lake City area, if you'd like to hook up. Also, we'd be happy to steer you in the right direction(if you need it) for some scenic rides. Love the Tri-Cities area - we have a son in Seattle(Bellevue) and one in Silverdale.
We've been all over the states you mentioned; so much to see, too little time.....
