When you vote, please also indicate it in a post. It would also be informative to say where you live.

I live in lovely downtown Pawcatuck, CT. (SE corner) Maybe I would have more miles if I could ride "south"? The only bad side of living by the ocean. I put 70 on yesterday and did lunch with the family. |

So far the Odometer is reading just shy of 16k for this year, and have a few more months to round it out. My daily commute is from York Pa to King of Prussia (2 hours + 2 hours) and I take the Vision every day. Rain is not an issue, the truck only comes out if there is snow, ice, or salt on the roads.

Use the Vision for Daily commute, weekend getaways, and jaunts to the store for milk and beer.

Over 19,000 last year and coming up on 19,000 this year again.
We hope to ride more than 20,000 in 2012.
The Vision is a great bike for riding and travelling.
Our 08 was purchased in April 2010 and it has over 29K on the odometer.
Our 09 was purchased in August 2010 and it has over 9K on the odomenter.

Posts: 2027 Brighton, TN | Hello, My Name is Pollolittle,
This is my fourth year in the program and it really does consume a lot of my time and energy. I commute a lot because I work and I have to. I sometimes get loose for some joy riding but only with the wife. I Ride around Western Tennessee and ride daily to work cause I have to. I don't really see how I will ever be able to break the pattern, it really does have a hold on my soul and existence. I can't break it cause I don't want to. So, it appears I will be here for a lot longer than originally planned. The wife thought this would be a big waste of money and that I would only ride it occassionally. I ride so much that she gets angry cause my dirt bike gets ridden too, which irritates her. I was told to take the car this morning cause it might rain, I defied the powers that be and rode anyway. My mother in law thinks I should wear shoes when I go outside too.
I have more to say, but I'll let someone else have a turn, but when it comes past my way again, everyone please take a small break and hit the head, gee dunk, and the scuttlebutt before I get started again, cause it might be awhile before I am done. |

| Prior to meeting my wife I used to average around 25,000 miles a year. Since I starting dating my wife my annual mileage has continually dropped even though she rides her own bike, to this year I only rode around 6,000 miles. I sure it doesn't help that I am fortunate (or maybe not!) that the drive to my shop is only 22 miles round trip and before dating my wife I would usually stretch out the ride home to 150 to 200 miles. It is amazing how demanding a woman can be when she wants you home right after work so that "we" can do the things that she plans out (which more often than not does not include going for a weekday evening ride)! |

Posts: 763 Anderson, IN (48mi NE of downtown Indianapolis) | My average is 9000 miles/yr. However, I have never looked at milage alone as a means to measure my riding. What is equally important to me is saddle time. I want to be on the bike as often as possible.
My 9000 mi/yr includes very little interstate. My average speed according the readout stays around 40mph. Most of my time is spent on county roads because I don't find interstate appealing (just my personal preference). The good stuff is off the beaten path. I have the option of interstate or back roads to work. Both are same distance, but the back roads take longer due to the slower speed. On weekend rides I always opt for state roads.
If I road for the same amount of time on the interstate at 70mph as I have secondary roads, I calculate I would have 6k more miles per year which equates to almost 20k more miles I would have since I purchased the Vision.
To get an acurrate measurment of my riding I take both miles and type of riding into account. I ride at least 6 hrs/week almost year round. Since these six hours are slower speeds my miles per year is low. When someone says, "I road 400 miles Saturday", I always ask, "what route ya take". Interstate can be done in 6 hrs with only 2 gas stops. Less traveled routs can stretch the ride to 8, 10, 12hrs of actual ride time. That's where the fun comes in because I am going to see things I have not seen before, stop for lunch and dinner, and meet new people in the process. Whereas interstates, well, I have been as far as all the local ones go in either direction...nothing new to see there. So, miles don't really tell the whole story. Average speed needs to taken into account via the chosen route.
I prefer the back roads because they have the twisties, scenic views, and less congestion. At the same time it keeps my milage down for resale even though the motor has ran for much longer time than highway bikes.
I would like to see a non-resetable hour meter on the Vision.

Going by that logic, I should have 15-20k by May of next year as she's my main transport to work. I also can ride pretty much year round here (and I do) so that estimate should be good. Posts: 329 scotts valley, California | I am sorry to hear of your mishap, Prarie Dog. You know, the more I look at this thread, the more I realize that it is really not about the number of miles we log onto our odometer; it is more about the amount of joy we get out of riding. The Vision is such a comfortable and dependable bike that, given the opportunity, it is easy to stack up the miles. I've gotten into that myself; taking some kind of pride in the number of miles that I've covered. It's not me that makes all those miles possible; it's the bike! Some physical problems that probably go with 71 years of overusing my body have reduced my annual mileage to around 10k, but I thoroughly enjoy every one of them.
You will be riding again before you know it.... on a nice low-milage bike. |

Posts: 8144 New Bohemia, VA | PD, sorry to hear of your mishap also. I'm glad to hear you write about it and hope all will be well very soon. I will say that as a high miler, I agree it is the quality of the ride. I never set out just to roll any miles on, in fact, I rarely do "just a ride" and mostly commute. I'm scraping into my mid-fifties and my Army Airborne days are catching up with me, but I still see a lot of miles ahead. I don't believe I would be riding as much as I do if it weren't for the Vision. |

Not going to get to ride much this year . Had a cage pull in front of the Vision 3 weeks ago . Broke my right leg above ankle completly and fractured
up higher in 4 more places . Didn't hit the cage and beleive if had i been on any other bike my leg would've been the least of the injuries . Hopefully
i can get back on by august . The bike wasn't damaged to bad untill it stuck itself in a privacy fence and broke the headlight , bent some metal behind the plastic and one lower deflector .... fairing looks good with hardly a scratch but cracked the front fender . Will post pics when i figire put how ....
Get well soon. What a shame. Please start a new thread when you post the pictures.
Take care,

Posts: 100 Hudson, Ohio | I just turned 10,000 miles today....almost 1 year to the day. Drove her off the lot May 20, 2011. I put more miles on the bike than my car.....so, that is a success IMO! |

Posts: 161 Oregon. | I have not been able to put mileage on my bike this year, like last year. Hopefully I will be able to do better this coming year. I still want to do that ride to Prudhoe bay. Well see. |
