| Wow what a bike, My wife and I just returned from a 6 day ride from Ft. Smith AR to Grand Canyon, Monument Valley and back through northern New Mexico (Chama to Taos). Total miles-2,499.01. This is added to the 1st trip back in late March all the way to Tucson. We are hard core tourers and the bike was a beast. We rode in 25mph winds on day 1, 30mph on day two, and 39mph with gusts to as high as 57mph as we approached Windslow AZ. I have ridden through this area on I-40 many times and I think they should rename that town Windshigh. The reason I am going into such detail on wind speed was due to a review from a Harley rider\writer that tested a Vision and said he would not want to be riding it in high wind due to its "profile". Maybe they are sissies and just scared of the elements! Well my Vision more than handled that wind and delivered my carcass as well as my lovely wife to Flagstaff just fine, thank you. To finish the ride info; woke up to 6 inches of snow, decided to head to Monument Valley so we drove in 38 degrees and blowing snow for an hour till we dropped down off the mountain to the high desert towards M V. We had one good day of sunny weather at M V. Decided to head back towards Taos then home due a suprise low pressure system approaching from norther Rockies. You guest it..the storm caught us at Chama which is a beautiful area of NM just below S.Colorado and Wolf Creek Pass. It is roughly an hour over the mountain east towards Taos. It was a miracle out of scripture and if God Himself vectored us over that mountain through a hole in the clouds that completely surrounded us with heavy down pours while the temps hovered in the low 40's. From Taos to Shamrock TX the next day driving rain and 39 most of the way to TX. border. Sunny the last day home to Fort Smith. We own 3 Vics-03 CC, 04 KP and Vision Tour. My Vics are all brute beasts! So my message to all is ride proud and allow extra time for all of the questions about this amazing bike. Peace' FS |
