Posts: 41 Mena, arkansas / 12 vision | I have bought a 2012 VV in black. My first desire was a 8 ball but after all I wanted to add, the math just didn't work out for me. So I went with a tour and just removed the trunk. The dealership did the Ipod connector, twin sucker, windshield, and bars for me and no install fees. That was a nice bonus.
He she is still in the crate
on the day of pick up just in front of the dealership
time to personalize it. I work for CMA so it was with Job in mind that I set out to have vinyl layed to it

Next up was the trunk removal for a lower stance and COG. It is amazing to me how much the trunk changes the looks of this bike and the handling
While the graphics were?layered?on I also blacked out the blinkers and part of the headlight assembly
After I put on about 1,800 miles I decided it needs to sound as good as it looked, so I went for Loydz advice and ordered the thunder cones. they have a deep clean sound that really adds to the charater of the bike. The PCV helps to dail in the performance.? http://youtu.be/7M3ZviWT8Tg here is a link to the sound clip I can't get the vid to embed sorry Now the looks are a mixed bag for the exhaust I run them a while without the heat shields to get a feel for the look
I now have 2100 miles on it and decided to put the heat shields on and give it a more finished look?
I have about got the bike just as I want it, I love the sound and the look, plus it is the most comfortable bike I have ever owned. The windshield is perfect for me with it full up the wind goes over my head and with it low my?helmet?vents work to flow air and I still do not have a lot of?pressure on my?helmet. Weather permitting I will be in Kansas this?Sunday?on it.?

Is it the message you disagree with there Willtill? Or the fact that it may be considered a bit gaudy looking? You seemed to make sure you were as insulting as possible with your comment, and that was uncalled for.
You didn't get all bent with the overly gaudy Hells Angels or police look-a-like graphics. You vociferously defend loud pipes, modulating headlights, very bright tail lights and so on. Kinda hypocritical, arent you?
Must be the message he is attempting to send that offends you. I'm betting you're a big defender of free speech (as long as you agree with the message)
For the record, I think this bike looks best in a solid color. Would never put a bunch of flames, "tribal", barbed wire, or anything else on it. You're never gonna hear me personally insult someone because I don't happen to agree with their interpretation of what looks good.

Both. I stand by my opinion. As it is a strong statement; I would expect the emotional responses.
Insofar as insulting someone; that label is certainly championed by others in this thread; with their infantile name calling. But as JohnWesley (the OP) stated, I too am wired to handle it.

I did sort of the same thing, I used gloss black vinyl car wrap to reshape the headlight. I did have to trim it back across the top because the headlight gets very hot there, almost too hot to touch and it started to bubble the wrap.

there was some work needed to fit the heat shields. I just tacked some nuts to the heat shiled post and used bolt to set the height. they are only need where the thunder cone meets up with the header. the other side mounts right to the thunder cone.l worth the work for me as I love the sound.
you do not have to run the shields but some believe it looks more finished if you do.

As far as CMA, I have a Jewish friend who went down on his Harley in Sturgis and was stranded without proper medication in the hospital. The Vision it nearing 3,000 miles now and I like it more each time I ride it. I had to take the Road Glide into the shop today and it felt really odd. I forgot how much different those two bikes are. Dad and I was discussing it on the way home and the bikes are so different that they really aren't comparable. I have to say that there really isn't anything like it. |

I have to disagree, DrDecay. You claim we shouldn't "disrepect someone's opinion (truth!)", but you've just disrespected Will's opinion on John's Vision as it doesn't fit with your own beliefs.
Have you considered that perhaps not everyone on the forum believes that "Gods message supersedes any trite blather in an mc forum" ??
Why is Will "disrepecting" John's bike by saying that he finds it over the top, after John has posted pictures in a public forum which invites comments ?
I personally don't like the decals firstly because I think they spoil the lines of the bike, and secondly as they are certainly in your face, but there is no way I would ever say that John should remove them. That's his choice, and that's fine. Pretty much what Will said, really. How this can be twisted as some sort of personal attack is beyond me.

My comments about John Wesley's graphics weren't even directed at the majority here; it was a reply to John's original post itself. Those chiming in about a perceived personal attack are dead wrong; it is simply a critique of what and how he decaled his bike. I still think it looks awful, and I'm not going to fade and withdraw that opinion; to appease a bunch of liberally minded forum members whom are attempting to censor that.
It appears to me that John Wesley took my comments in stride; and demonstratively has a thick skin concerning it. Most of the rest of you would do well from learning how to deal with it; instead of continuing to pontify this thread regarding my comment.
For you John, whatever floats your boat. Enjoy your graphics and ride safe.
This is my last post on this particular thread. I've got better things to do than sit here and read about how unfair some of you think the world is.

I have to believe that there are at least a few sketches of one in the works at the Victory design studio. Cruisers are not dead by any means, but the "adventure" bike style really seems to be taking a good bit of market share lately.
Seems like it would be a natural fusion between the Polaris quads and Vision road bikes. |

Like the bike. Very nice advertising on the side (or whatever it's called).
one thing you might consider that I though would go well with what you have so far, is some sort of etching into the clear windshield and side deflectors. I know they have kits where you can etch whatever design you want, and I bet somewhere you can find it for the plastic wind deflectors. I think it'd be a nice subtle touch that people will see your bike, want to come closer to look at it, and THEN notice the etching. Don't know if the rider association you belong to has a symbol, but that'd be pretty cool in the wind deflectors.

You have to sand it down to where the is no shinny parts to it. then clean with dish washing soap and make sure all the area to be painted is dull. It should stick then. You can also use aerosol model paint it adheres well to plastic

All else- whether he is putting CMA decals or skulls & flames, it's his bike. He can put whatever he wants on it. Respect the man & his bike. |

willtill----I hope for your sake that you don't ever voice your opinion in such a disrespectful manner in front of a "club member". Voicing your opinion is fine, direspect is not.
JohnWesley---I like the all black tour. I am biased though. You keep doing YOUR thing and spreading your message.
Wayne
I don't give a flip what you consider opinion and disrespect. And I don't give a flying flip about kowtowing to the CMA, and their beliefs. Wesley posts his graphics work on his new bike in a public forum, he's going to get opinions on it.
Your veiled threat in your first sentence; is the prime example of religious hypocrisy. It's either the religious zealots way, or no way. Religion is the root of all evil; the most common denominator of war since recorded human conflict; and mankind continues to perpetuates it.
Don't mean to hijack this thread and have tried to stay out of it. Wayne's post brought me out of the woodwork on this one. Sorry fella's
It was disrespectful, he was just showing off his bike and what he did with it. He was not shoving any message in your face. All you had to do was say "I dont care for it" and move on. Instead you went on a rant showing yourself to be the one being hypocritical. You did what you accused him of doing. You need to figure out what scares you so much about a sticker. Leave your baggage at the log in. You did not try to stay out of it, you started it. Funny how in your posts its always someone elses fault. Take responsibility for your actions.
Thats my 2 cents.
OP, bike looks great! Black is awesome! |

| Kinda late on this thread. For those like myself with limited paint skills you can buy the black bezel from your local Victory dealer for $35. I was shocked at the price. A black bezel changes the look if you are blacking out your bike. Plus if you tried to paint your bezel already and discovered your not a painter your quick fix is $35 plus tax. |
