When using an iphone or ipod plugged into the ipod cable for the victories, can you listen to an audiobook? My GUESS is that it would default to "ipod" and so to play an audiobook, all and any files would have to be in a playlist? But then, wouldn't you lose your spot in the playlist if you leave and attempt to come back to it? Trying to "future proof" myself....

Also, please see my related post which might make this a non-issue....[url]http://www.vision-riders.com/bb/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=10580&posts=1#M104317

Thanks.

I haven't tried it yet. I have an audio book on CDs. Each of the 6 disks has about 100 audio files on it about a minute each, so if you note what track is playing to could go back to it. I use my iphone on the bike. It will normally pick-up where it left off. I'm goint to rip the CDs now, I have been meaning to try it anyway. I'll let you know.

Here's a few ideas if you don't mind doing a little experimenting for me...

I think the ipod cable will only play "itunes" songs and playlists synced to the phone through the speakers. I couldn't get it to remember where it was in a playlist (switching to radio, and back and forth through playlists always starte them over again, and always in alphabetical order). So I'm wondering if you key them in as "podcast" and make a playlist of those files if it'd work better.

And thanks for the response about the SENA. I can see the order taking precedence (it defaulting to the last connection made), but I am also curious if it will automatically go to the headset right away if the radio is turned off, so the ipod cord will keep it charged, but NOT try to play it through the stereo.

I personally like listening through the headset. With earplugs and those sena speakers, things come through clear. ESPECIALLY spoken words like podcasts and (now that I'm trying them) audio books.

We listen to audio books all the time. We load them on the IPOD and let it go. It does remember where you are in the book, but not if you switch over to music and then back...I don't think that it does anyway. You can control chapters and also move to a new book through the radio controls. Occasionally it needs a time out but works well. We've listened to books from Minnesota to both coasts and never had a problem.
