| I had two headsets, one for driver and one for passenger. Originally they worked alright, sound output was not as great as I expected.
I can barely hear my CB now through the headset, whether I am pluggged into the drivers port or passenger port. Even the radio is not audible through the right speaker, and soft in the left.
I turned off the external speakers, set CB volume to max, and still can barely hear. Other bikes say they hear me transmit ok. Other bikes may be 20 feet from me.
Any suggestions? I thought about trying just some speakers into the pins on the port to see if it is a port problem, but since I have issues with both ports, I am not sure.

All of the radio components need to be at the latest version. DO THIS BEFORE YOU REPLACE THE HEADSETS! Once you are at the latest version, report back and let us know how it is working.
Once you are at the latest version and you still have the problem, throw away the stock headset and buy a better one at www.JMCORP.com. I have only run the J&M versions and my issues like this have always been a firmware upgrade to the radio and its components.

After having everything checked by the dealer (checked out OK), someone mentionned that I might want to try a different helmet. As it turns out, my Bell Mag8 helmet was putting the speakers too far from my ears and the sound was getting lost. I have switched to a Scorpion EXO 900 and all is great. Speakers sit closer to my ears and I actually have to make sure the volume is down around 7-8 so as not to blow my ears out. Worth a check!

Make sure that all of the electrical contnections and plugs are clean. It doesn't take much to compromise the signal. A pencil eraser makes a great contact cleaner if it fits. just rub and twist it on the contacts, then blow out the residue. If an eraser doesn't fit, you can try using some electrical contact cleaner from Radio Shack, or possible autozone.
Last but not least, check the speakers themselves. After a lot of use inside the helmet, they can get clogged up with all kinds of stuff. Sweat and body oils (or brill cream if you use it) gets on them and that collects dust, dirt, hair, dirty hair, small rodents, and the like.

| I ended up getting a set of Elite Series Headphones from J&M Corporation. They sounded completely different and better than the stock headsets. Thanks for the advice fellows.... | |
