Posts: 460 Centennial, CO | Well I am going to have more than one vision rider not happy with this post. Oh well!
I just took delivery yesterday of a brand new CCT '12. Only three miles and paid less than 20k.
I have always loved my VV but when the CC came out I said then as I will say again, had the CC been out on '08, I would have taken it home instead. But I digress!
A couple if immediate observations. The CCT is a great bike but has a couple of things that do make a difference to me. The first one is simply that the bike feels smaller. I realize it is not. But reality is, the big fairing is gone and I'm left a bit wanting.
I also miss the moveable windshield. Oh well, I'll get used to that.
The last thing that is huge in my mind is the vibration. I am a bit surprised at how it is more pronounced than the VV. But it is still so much better than any HD out there.
I have been told the difference in storage is not a big deal. Oh I so beg to differ. It is much roomier. Those that say I'm a wimp because of it, fine. I like my ecoutraments and this is a big one that I love. I enjoy not having to figure out where I'm going to stuff that last Widget. Yes it's that much roomier. I moved all of my stuff from the V to the CCT and have a ton of room left over. Love it!
The break in and fact that I lost my cam to the VV will be something I'll have to get over. But I truly look forward to the miles to come.

Posts: 22 Kokomo, IN | I replaced my 08 Vision with a new Cross Roads. Of course I'm cutting way back on my touring, so I really don't need a full touring bike. I do like the way the CR handles, and I don't notice the vibration as you do. I put more than 20,000 miles on my Vision in one year, but I toured from coast to coast. That's no longer on my bucket list. Congrats on your new touring bike. I think the CCT is awesome. H-D Ultra is an outdated piece of do-do compared to the CCT. |

Thank you, Commander!
I still do that much touring hence the tour pack. I tested both and each are equally nice! Can't agree more about the Ultras. My buddy still rides one and thinks I'm an idiot for not drinking the cool-aid. LOL

| I have pondered the thought several times. The main issue for me is my short legs. Anny and I do okay but a lower seat height would a big plus for me.
Maybe when the CCT comes with electric windshield and reverse?
At the NY bike show yesterday I watched a Honda rep pulling up the windshield on a Gold Wing for a potential customer. Guess the idea is to spend 10 minutes cleaning the windshield after? |

Posts: 1117 Northeast Ohio | Jim, doubt there will be many, if any, that comment negatively. You kept it in the family, right? You have to enjoy the motorcycle you ride, and the XCT is a fine machine. To be honest, when I demoed an XC, my wife found it to have more room on the pillion than the VV. I knew the XCT would have more storage capacity, but I have been itching to buy a Bushtec trailer, so I will make it my excuse to do so. I am hoping to get them to make me a deal while in Daytona this year.
Enjoy your new ride.

Posts: 25 Natick, MA | When I bought my Vision I was very torn between the VV and the XCT. The only thing that sold me on the VV was the slow speed handling, especially having come from a FJR1300. Great choice either way, thats why Victory makes both!! Congrats! |

| Redrider...I also have short legs and was a little nervous the first year on my 2011 Vision....Acutally dumped it over twice, no damage thanks to the tip-overs,,,Bought the Vision 8-ball seat which is 1" lower and man what a huge difference.....I love the seat and feel much more confident and sure of myself ,especially at slower speeds than before.....You might try it..BTW no CCT for me...I don't need the extra storage and love my Vision......

Posts: 639 Tri Cities, WA | My wife just got her 12 Red XCT back in Dec after waiting 2+ months for delivery. She came off a 09 HD Street glide and said this bike handles way better with more top end grunt and better wind protection and no vibration compared to her SG. SHE LOVES HER NEW 12CCT. Great bike. |

Posts: 3773 Pittsburgh, PA | i wanted to get a CCT when i went looking for another victory a few months ago.. i wanted it because of the extra storage. i took my girlfriend to the shop with me since she spends ALOT of time on the bike as well. but she didnt like it.. (what does she know!) i think the reason why she didnt "like" it had nothing to do with comfort or storage.. i think she was afraid to loose the Rock Star attention she gets when we ride the Vision.. LOL she said, it looks like everything else. I said because it doesnt look like a spaceship! lol so i added a trunk rack to help with the added storage and to close the gap a little more between the visions 29 gallons vs the 41 gallons of storage on the CCT |

Posts: 460 Centennial, CO | Hey all!
Thanks for the replies! VARYDER - Yep, kept it in the family so I guess I'm still part of this family. Ha ha!
A couple of people mentioned the leg room...etc. At 5'8", I can truly see the difference. I never had a problem handling the VV but this new CCT is quite nice for the short guys.
I just put the drivers back rest on it tonight and I can't wait until tomorrow to give it a go. I also spent a couple of hours putting on some pin striping (tape) to see what I want to do when I finally take it to someone that can paint them the way I have it striped. I'm not into the tribal and flame stuff so, like the VV before this, I'm keeping it simple. Although the VV was simply taped, I got a ton of looks. I went for a ride with a number of other VV riders that didn't do much if anything to their bikes. People would ask me what package I ordered...etc. It was kind of funny.
I'm looking forward to many miles on the CCT. While I enjoyed the VV, I think the CCT is the way for me. Like I said in my original post, had the CC been out when I was looking at the VV, the VV would not have been in my stable. As it was, the VV was there long enough for me to truly say it is an awesome machine and I fault nobody for taking one home!
Arkainzeye - I feel your pain with the "looks". My ex loved the attention. I did too...heh heh!
ScoreBo - Let me know how you like the trunk. That was another thought I had but obviously opted for a new bike.
DanPorges - I'm curious if you noticed a huge difference in the handling between the two? I do notice I'm not comfortable in slow tight turns but I think that is because i literally only have 50 miles in the saddle to date. I have the 2"PB bars on order. They are supposed to be here this week. I think that will help too as I am short enough that I had to move 2" forward in the saddle to do my slow turn maneuvers. Hopefully the 2"PBs will take care of that.
The 2"PBs brings up something else and yet another reason why I am curious why Victory allows their VV to lag so far behind in accessories. I looked through the book and found that the CCT has what appears to be a bigger selection. Is it me or is this the case?
Anyway, thanks for not casting me to the curb! It is always a pleasure to meet all of you on here. I hope to meet more of you in person as I have met only a few so far! Not being one for Sturgis much any longer, maybe another rally somewhere! I'll keep ya posted and please let me know if you're at any Rallys in or near the state of Colorado!
Happy riding all! See you on the road soon, I hope! |
