This is a new one. I went riding today and the radio was working fine. Stopped for fuel and the radio is now frozen/stuck with Victory Motorcycles on the display. I have turned the bike on off several times, pressed the mode and source buttons but nothing works. It's just stuck like that. The concern is the lights for the radio unit are also stuck on and I'm sure this will drain the battery.

Any ideas on what could be causing this and how I might fix it. Will see if I can just pull a fuse for now.

Had it happen on my 09 as well. disconnected the ground wire on the battery waited a few seconds, then reconnected it. Found it easier to do it that way as opposed to pulling the fuse, but that's just me and my old artheritic hands.

I would also check the plugs by pulling the console. Make sure they are snapped in good.

Mine has done that a couple of times. Twice I was home and pulled the ground wire off. Once I started and killed the bike a couple of times then it was fine. Not sure why I think it might be a relay. But I have a 09 also might just be that year.

My 08 did the same thing, pulled the fuse, waited a couple minutes, plugged it back in, 6 months, no problems. The fuse is much easier for me to get to than getting down on my knees to disconnect the battery.

This is what I found in my unofficial experiments and what I found on this forum...

It's a fairly common problem on those older visions (I have an 09 and it would happen to me every few months). One way to ensure that it doesn't happen is to turn the key on and let the radio completely boot up BEFORE hitting the starter to start the bike. When you hit the starter it makes the radio "reboot" and if it wasn't booted up fully before, it was more likely to happen.

If your bike is new enough (still under warranty) it'll probably be reflashed under warranty. Mine was. And after the reflash, I didn't have to wait for it to fully boot anymore. And it's working great.

As far as getting it unstuck, after a few days of starting and stopping the bike, it would magically reset, or you can pull the fuse or negative cable from the battery for a little bit.

Pulling the fuse reset the radio and it's working again. Not a "solution" in my mind as it's something that should be taken care of by Victory, particularly since so many people are having the same issue. Luckily, mine is still under warranty and I'll have the dealer flash or replace during my next service interval. Thanks all!
