| I really don't think there is a "name" brand bad wire out there.
You want 8mm carbon fiber wires and both the same length.
The only way you will know witch one is the best is plug it into the coil and hold onto the other end and crank the motor. The one that sends you the farthest across the room is giving you the best spark. ( please don't really try this) |

The front and rear cylinder is supposed to have different resistance readings so buying another type that have the same length is not the way to go. |

Posts: 3773 Pittsburgh, PA | is there any "advantage" at all to using non-oem plug wires for OUR application? i dont consider the vision to be a high performance engine. when you have 600cc sports bikes making more HP. (not ragging the vision) just saying.. |

The bike is always garaged, probably spent the night out in the rain maybe twice on a trips. Everybody check both ends, yours could be too.......... |

And don't forget the tube of dilectric grease for each end boot, keeps the moisture out and the electricity in |

Do not go to the parts dept and have them look up each wire individually. Everybody can do what they want but I put a set of Magnecore wires and the bike did not run the same even though Magnecore had been great on my Harleys. |

Posts: 2300 Georgia, west of Atlanta | There is something very different between the stock vistory wires and any other I've seen. There is a small slot cut in the end of the wire connector that mates with the enside of the coil, in that slot is a small D-ring, it helps to connect to the male style coil connection point........ |

Posts: 2300 Georgia, west of Atlanta | varyder: I also got a replacement set of wires from Victory, the red ones with black boots they were about $35.00 for the set, they do have the small D-Ring female connectors and they snap right on. The Aceel wires worked fine too, but just for everybodys info wanted to tell about the "custom" replacement wires from Victory........... |

Also were they of equal length. I read some place that one is longer (#1) by design for some reason.. |

| Just read this thread, and looked for a while on line.
If you search for Victory / Polaris parts, you'll find the original equipment wires (4012733, 4012746) at $45 - $55 EACH.
If you search for Victory / Polaris accessories, you'll find the colored wires (2876145) in Yellow (-053), Blue 9-027), or Red (-015) for under $30 a PAIR!
What is Polaris thinking?

Posts: 33 South Carolina | Prices vary depending on what you order - they have sets but you can also custom pick each type of end, the conductor, the length etc. I used a set on an S&S 124 - very nice wires, high silicone content, thick, well made boots. I think I paid $35 and had them in a few days. |

Give him a call. He'll make it right. I called him up once and he called me a dickhead (seriously... he does lack customer skills); but eventually what we were quibbling about worked out.
So no hard feelings here... I have ordered stuff from him since.

As someone searching for a new vision, the above concerns me. Most everyone who has a Vision, and a Victory in General, seems happy with their bike. I know forums are hit or miss, but........
Seems like at 15k miles, wires shouldn't be corroded, or even need to be replaced.
So am I over concerned?

Posts: 3773 Pittsburgh, PA | well, i ended up making my own after failed attempts of purchase plug wires labeled for the victory vision... I purchase Ford wires. cut them shorter and installed the victory end cap (the part that goes on the actual spark plug) I was able to purchase 6 ford spart plug wires for $30.. they are the same if not thicker than Victory wires. ... and i dont know if my wires were "bad" for a long time or not.. but when i installed these home made wires.. WOW .. this is the way my bike should have been..... now i have 4 extra wires that i am going to purchase end caps for from NGK and make a few more sets of vision wires... might have a back up set.. just because i dont want to waste the rest of the wires... |

| Had a semiliar experience. Thought I had a bad plug wire. So I tried and old Horizon plug wire I had in the garage, & wow. So I put in a second one.
"Arkainzeye" how did you put that end on? Open it with brute force & then crimp on as best you could or do you have a crimper?
I tried to get that Vic end cap (plug end) off but had to split the boot to get it off and the boot part is what I wanted to reuse. What type of center wire did the ford wire have?

| Arkainzeye - 2014-06-17 11:14 PM i wonder how important these specs are..... in regards to replacement wires?? This is a nagging question for me. 2009 plugwires Ohms reading differ from 2010 Ohms reading. They use the same coil. the parts book shows the same part number for the wires on o9's & 10's. Why the differnt Ohms spec's ? Does it make a difference as to which one you use on an 09 ? |

| To think Polaris/Victory buys 50 thousand plug wires a year if not more and has the nerve to sell them to us for $60 bucks each.
I look at witchdoctor plug wires and don't understand why one is short and one is long in length. I though you want the same length so the spark travels the same length with the same amount of power. |
