My 08 does not have ABS. I have locked up the rear a few times without the trailer. The trailer adds 40lbs tongue weight. Not sure how much this equates to rear wheel weight, but enough to make it difficult to lock up. A dog ran in front of me from behind some bushes while I was pulling the mountain bike. I got on the brakes harder than I ever had before. The rear did not skid. No animals were hurt.

I pull both a fiberglass cargo trailer ad an aluminum cargo trailer. I also have a Timeout popup camper. I ride an 09, no ABS. No issues towing or stopping.

ABS is not really needed on the rear wheel when pulling a trailer, you can stand on the rear brake and not lock it up. The front on the other hand will wash out if you hit it too hard. It's kinda the opposite of normal motorcycle braking.

Before you order a hitch you might want to do some searching around this site. There is TONS of great info about all of ins & outs of the hitches for the Vision.

@hdog - Who makes that trailer? It looks great! How is it to pull? Any bouncing? I am looking at the Bushtec Entourage, but am having sticker shock with it.

The trailer is a rance aluminum 2x4 and it pulls easy with no bouncing. I have had the trailer for almost 2 years and pulled it for 9K miles+ with no issues. Suspension is torsion Axle and not leaf springs. It was a left ovet 2008 still boxed up and I got it for a steal.
Rance stopped making it when super sport aluminum cargo trailers came out for $1395.00

The Hitchdoc has a hidden receiver that can accomodate many types of hitches. The one I have has a ball-hitch that slides into that receiver.

Who makes that trailer and where did you get it??  It looks similar to the UniGo, but more stylish.

Here's my setup.  The trailer is a Dart made by Time Out Trailers of Elkhart, IN.  Pulls great.  I made a little carrier on the tongue to carry a couple of extra gallons of fuel with me.

I pull a Uni-Go trailer with mine. I just got the bike in November so have only had a chance to ride 125 miles with it though. I pulled the trailer with my Goldwing few several thousand miles without a problem. I love the fact that they trail the bike and lean when you lean. Another brand I would check out is http://n-line.com

I think towing a trailer would be great, never attempted it but looking into it. Question I have, how much affect on your fuel mileage? I see one carrying extra fuel cans. Second question, Reverse, do you need reverse want reverse or okay without reverse. Fiberglass versus aluminum? Thanks and hope to hear from you folks.

For me, fuel mileage isn't affected by too much. At most, 20 miles per tank. The reaon I have the fuel on board is my previous bike (VTX1800) had maybe a 125 mile range 2 up with the trailer and there was 4 times the my wife was very appreciative of the extra fuel! LOL! I haven't needed the fuel since getting the Vision. I do not have reverse and it is a bear to back up, more to do with the short tongue than anything else. I just plan ahead to minimize backing up. The trailer has made touring much more enjoyable for my wife (who can't leave home without her body pillows) and by association, me. You know "if momma ain't happy........."

Very little if any mileage differences. I plan my parking so I don't have to back up if possible. I can also have someone pull the trailer from side to side to make backing up easier.

I do not have reverse and I back up everytime I use the trailer. I like to load up and attach the trailer the night before. I back it out of the garage (trailer attached) into the turn around in the driveway and ride away. The turn around is slightly uphill, but I still manage to get it up there somehow. Reverse would be nice, but not for $1000 they wanted at the time.

Love my Unigo! Plenty of space. Looks good with the bike. Great price point. Plus I can unhook it, and roll it into hotel, up the elevator, and into my room to unpack! No bouncing and can hardly feel it back there. I have over 2000 miles on mine. http://www.uni-go.com/videos/QT5_512_downloaduni-go.mov

I also have a uni-go trailer.  I've had it since 2009, I pull it with my 2008 Vision (no reverse).  I have over 30,000 miles on trailer, been all over east coast, Blue ridge parkway, catskills, poconos, etc. etc.  I ride double with the trailer no probems what so ever.  I like the idea that I can unhook and wheel into my hotel room.  The only time I notice it is when I have to brake firmly, I can feel it pushing me a little, other than than than, I ride normally and it just leans and follows me.  check out photos in gallery.

I know this thread is old, but good to see folks are resurrecting them instead of starting a new one.

I pull an Aluma MCTXL on my 2011. Used a HitchDoc hitch, Electrical Connection trailer isolator for a GoldWing.

Any of you uni-go trailer guys consider buying the complete Vision rear end that was posted for sale here and fitting it to your trailer to match the bike. Thinking that it should be possible, (did not say easy) and would look awesome.

I have a Bushtec Sportstar. It's small, but it holds more than enough for two of us to take enough gear for at least 2 weeks. Even in heavy rain and wind this summer, it didn't even feel like it was behind us.

I've put thousands of miles on this guy. Including pulling it fully loaded through the Dragon.

I've seen it selling these days as a "Blackhawk" trailer - but this one was originally labelled as a Taxi Jr.
