| Hey All I have been lurking for some time and have done quite a bit of poking around to find out as much as I could about the Vision. I have been monitoring everyone's comments back and forth regarding your personal experiences both good and not so good with your bikes. And I have got to say that I have been impressed by what everyone has to say about the amazing ride of the Vision and terrified by some of the horror stories regarding availability/delivery of parts and accessories, not to mention some of the quality of workmanship issues, i.e. paint, saddlebag covers, etc, etc.... I have only ever sat on one at a bike show. The closest dealer to me is 4 hrs (including ferry ride). I am going tomorrow for a test ride. However, I have to be honest when I say that the issues with this bike raised on this site has really sent up some HUGE flags! The biggest attractions for me getting this bike are the ride (which I will be confirming tomorrow) and the fact that this is a dual purpose bike: a tourer that I can sit down in and with the turn of a rachet it becomes a cruiser that I can take around town. Now having said all of that, like I mentioned, major flags have been raised. My Question is for the Vision Owners: If you had it to do all over again, would you have done anything different with regards to buying your Vision? Thanks Gerry | |

Posts: 271 Belding Michigan | I am fairly new here but the answer is in a heartbeat. If you get a good dealer who understands your needs and the bikes he is selling the problems go away before you have them. I wanted a full out dresser with all the bells and whistles. I got it in spades and I found a few things I missed just because I did not know that they existed. I now have them all I think. I have the preimum tour with the power windshield, Heated seat and hand grips. I added CB audio package with XM and a IPOD connector with power cable for the IPOD. I got a Utopia drivers backrest. I got helmets with J&M audio installed and all cables and connectors. The full package is expensive but worth it This out rides, out runs, and out handles my Goldwing. It beats the hell out of My Harley Tour Glide and fits me better than anything I have ever ridden. Do I sound like a comercial for the Vision if so then so be it. I have only one ride left in my garage as it is the bike for all things for me. See ya down the road. Archie

| It was very tough for me to wait for one since I was very unhappy on my Harley. I have had a Vegas, Kingpin, HD custom, 2 HD Ultras, and now the Vision, all since 2004. My problem was that I do alot of miles, and most of them are 2-up. I really had to get a dresser, or it was just not working out with the gf...I bought the Ultras to get me by until the Vision was ready, meaning, the bugs worked out. But I really found the Harley to be boring, and it was killing me. I swore I would not buy a first year model, although, my Kingpin was an 04' and was perfect. I found a great deal on the Vision, and decided to take the risk. If I could go back in time, I would not have bought it. I would have suffered another season on the Harley and waited until all of the 08' Vision buyers did the testing and fixing for Victory. I did not count on so many problems! Don't get me wrong, I love the bike. But to buy a new bike and have over $20,000 invested, and in the first 3 weeks of owning it have the following problems, SHEESH!!!
crooked windscreen
windscreen shakes like crazy
crooked bags
gouged seat
rubbed off paint
cheap paint in general
broken plastic
ignition recall
stereo recall
hole rubbing into a hose
exhaust leak near the end of the muffler
IPOD problems
stereo problems
no fm reception
no weather band reception
chrome problems on the trunk rack
tremendous heat from the engine on the legs
tranny whine
jerky throttle response
surging while cruise control is set (bad)
bags do not open or close right
IPOD compartment does not pop open right
checking/putting air in the rear tire is ridiculous
Luggage for the bike does not fit in the bike
These are only problems on my bike, there are other people having other problems I don't have such as:
stalling out
backfiring
cb problems
volume control changing stations
exhaust leaks other than at the tip like mine
There are more problems as well, I can't think of them offhand. But for the flagship touring bike of a company as large as Polaris, these issues are way too many, and the remedy for most of them is far from acceptable. I am sure at least 2/3 of thses problems will not be on the 09's...What bugs me, is that it is a certainty Polaris will not help resolve all the problems we are having. Just the same as the 99' trannies, some will get help, other will not. A matter of who you know and who you blow type od deal....I don't really have that much of a bad taste over all the problems, I have a bad tatste over the lack of the willingness of Polaris to correct them. 20 + years with polaris and nothing has changed. I just keep putting up with it because they make the best overall product, most of the time.
If I could go back, I would wait. If they were being discontinued, I would get the 08' either way. It is a fantastic bike all in all. Such a shame Polaris saves a penny, but forgoes making a dollar by doing it.

Posts: 3204 Memphis | Buying a Vision is not for the faint of heart. I'd do it again in a heartbeat but I have the best of all worlds. I have a great dealer within 10 miles of my house and a bike that runs perfectly. I don't have dimple or fitment issues. I've got several coats of marine grade carnuba wax on it and the scuffs just buff right out. It has far exceeded my expectations. 6 months/10,000miles. My dealer closing it's doors would be the ultimate downer for me. I really feel for those guys. Since you are going to be 4 hours from the dealer, be sure to order a shop manual. $22K is a ton of money for a motorcycle. What did I get for my money? A perfect bike? No, there's no such thing. Did I get a comfortable, powerful, limited edition, head turning design that gets comments everyday I ride it and has my wife constantly thinking about where we can go on it? Absolutely. No regrets.

Posts: 153 Frisco, TX | I'm pretty upset about the bike, actually. I've just ordered a new Harley Ultra Classic Electra Glide and have put my Vision up for sale. Ok. Actually, that's not 100% true. I'm not buying a Harley and I'm not selling my Vision. I love my Vision. Every bike has things you like and don't like. Yes, this is a new bike and has some minor problems and some accessories are delayed. These things pale in comparison to what you're getting. There simply isn't a better touring bike on the market. For the paint, just get the paint protection kit. Problem solved. The bags are a little small but they're workable. Just pack light and get a rack with a pack. Problem solved. Most of the other issues have already been worked out. The time to buy is now because they're not making any more for 2008.

Posts: 37 SE Florida | Overall I am happy with the Bike and having bought it and yes I do have some of the issues other people have and there may be more as time goes on and yes they are sometimes annoying but I possibly have a different frame of reference. The bike I had before was a Yamaha Venture, a very comfortable bike that had a number of nagging problems that there was no possible fix for, poor weight distribution, horrible slow speed handling, and a terrible drive train wine. They were all part of the way the bike was designed. Every problem that has been mentioned on this Site with the Vision can be fixed and probably eventually will be fixed, it really sucks when there is no possible way to fix what is wrong with a bike that you otherwise like. So all in all yes I would probably do it all over again. And yes you are taking a kind of leap of faith buying a first model year product but I have done a lot risker things than that in my life and am probably not finished yet.

Posts: 732 Western WA | I would buy it again in a heartbeat. Minor issues? Sure, but nothing the company and the dealer have not fixed to my complete satisfaction. Are there things that I wish were different? Once again, yes. But nothing major. Move a switch here, put the ignition at the top of the panel, etc. But I've never ridden a bike that I WOULDN'T change things on.
Mechanically, and for pure riding experience, I can honestly say the Vision is the best bike I've ever ridden or owned.
And Golfer, man. . . .if I had your list I would file suit under the Lemon Law. Your Vision sounds NOTHING like the bike I'm riding.

Posts: 1484 LaPorte,Tx. | Golfer, you didn't like the Ultra, now your really down on this bike, I don't get it? I've read back some of your other posts and you have good comments about the bike. It looks like you're a Victory rider with having a Vegas and Kingpin, but with only 3000 miles on this bike, to go off on it like you did, what's that all about?
I had an (first year) 04 Kingpin Tour, traded it is with 33,000 miles. "Black and Bronze", good looking bike, you can see it in my gallery. The paint scuffed on it, the bags leaked, the seat was hard, I could go on with more, but I loved that bike and it's positive stuff way out weighed the negative stuff. People would come up to me and want to talk to me about the Kingpin, just like the Vision. When I first saw the Vision, I was not sure I would want one......had to ride it first. I admire those that put money down based on faith, they are the faithful. Once I rode it I knew, this is the bike for me. A lot of people still don't like it and that is their opinion. You made the decision, you saw what you were getting, I hope you can get your Vision's issues resolved.
As for all of you who are lurking at this site and have read this thread and thinking about getting a Vision. There are alot of folks here who have ridden the heck out of this motorcycle, at least one person has 20000 miles and a lot are close. I can only say the postive again on this first year model "way out weighs the negative". But, if your wanting one, you better hurry up, they are going fast, although, you might talk Golfer out of his. "Giddy-up"

Talk with the dealer in your area, or take a trip to another dealer and see what issues their customers are having, if any. Sadly, someone can take a few negative comments and make it the whole picture. The main thing about this bike that is undisputed, and that is the way she sits and rides. The last time I checked with myself, that is all I care about. I'm satisfied 100% that this is the best ridding bike in its class, no doubts. It is rattling the cages of the other makers, and I like the looks on my Harley friends face when they ask how it rides, and I tell them "Smooth as glass." while they're still shakin'. Footnote: 13,800+ Miles on and I'm working with the dealer to do the 15,000 mile service in about a week or so, so I can minimize down time. Solid baby, solid! Posts: 113 East Ohio | The first time I saw the vision at a mall show it caught my eye, after I sat on it and felt the difference between my goldwing, I knew I had to take it for a test ride, I liked the handling and the ride, my wife was in favor of the goldwing, we went and test rode a new wing and it did not have the same ride as even my 1500, I felt cramped, but fortunately for me it was the wing dealer that lost the sale, he did not show the interest in us that the victory dealer did, and still does, I have 1400 miles in 5 weeks, a little low for us, but it has rained most of my days off til now. I have had only few problems and they have been taken care of to our satifaction, most of my riding has been 2 up, that is why we got the bike, just to cruise, thats "our' time, and we do enjoy all the conversations about the bike when we stop. I would definately buy again, and my wife is now a vision enthusiast.

pulley, grab bars, rear tipovers and grey tips under tail lights. The Gatling tips will be powder coated black and honeycomb portion will be chromed....also lyndall front rotors and pads black discs black carrier and red buttons..

Posts: 189 Baltimore, Md | amessen: "This out rides, out runs, and out handles my Goldwing" - I am in mid purchase and have previously owned Wings and many other bikes. While I purposefully picked the Vision this time over another Wing, I think your quoted statement is a tad too much. The Vision and Wing are both great for what they do, but the Vision does not (from my limited experience with it) outride and outrun a Gold Wing. It may well out handle one, but it will never outrun one. Not that this is so important, but we should be careful not to get reps like the HD guys as being so brand blind that we make clearly outlandish claims that cannot be supported by the facts. Most of all, it doesn't need to do those things to be a great bike.

Posts: 226 on the edge of Los Angeles | I am a recent owner and my story fits the within the positive side of doing it again. No matter what we do there is always hindsight.
I was not looking for this bike and never thought I would have one like it but once I saw it and then sat on / in it and went for an initial test ride 2 up I was amazed and was really Jonesin' to get one. This site was also a welath of information as this post is and like anything let your test ride determin what you really think and feel about it. You will not be disapointed!
Those of us who have one want to support them all issue aside and as I read this post pretty much all other bikes have their issues.
In my many years of purchasing motor vehicles I have yet to get one 2 or 4 wheel that did not have some sort of thing that bothered me. All in all none of witch caused me to regret my purchase.
The only thing that really matters is the support after the sale, If the dealer is there for you then thats worth the money spent.
Today as I went to visit my dealer who is unfortunatly closing, I was remided of how nice it is to own a bike that no matter who stops next to you in traffic says "I like it" Oh Yeah I like it too. no, "I really dig it!"
Gercia, I trust that your test ride will bring a smile to your face!!

Posts: 1324 So Cal | The bottom line is that the final decision is up to you. The bike you demo and the one you buy will have slight differences. Make sure the one you are buying is as capable as the one you demo. Put it through its paces also. Play with all the buttons and give it a good visual. If you see something that doesnt seem right, compare it with others on the floor. If they all have it, ask the dealer about it. If he promises something, get it in writing.

Posts: 173 Prescott Valley, AZ | So far the poll shows that MOST of us are quite happy with the Vision. Sure there are some problem areas, as one would expect from a first year model. The folks at Victory really stuck their collective necks out when they decided to produce this machine, they did a ton of research and it shows in the end product. This is a machine with a ton of electronics and being a first year run may well have a few bugs to be ironed out. I have had two "issues" (both electrical) and both were handles promptly by the dealer as soon as they got the parts in to make the fixes required.
There just plain are not any other bikes on the road today that get the reaction that the Vision does. Would I do it again? In a second!!!!!!

This is the sweetest bike I have ever ridden and I have ridden all the touring and sport touring bikes and most of the cruisers. My Vision has been almost trouble free. The paint is no worse than any of my other bikes. I installed the vinyl paint protection kit and I wish I had done this on my other bikes. I had to do the ignition recall which was a really quick and simple fix and the audio system firmware update. I have friends with new Gold Wings and Harley Ultras that have had a lot more issues then I have had. This first year bike has fewer issues than many other bikes that have been out for years. I think the Victory team hit the ball out of the park!

Posts: 550 Tacoma, WA | This is my first NEW bike, and I am WAY happy with it. I have put on almost 6,000 miles from November 07 to present, and am happy to say, I am all smiles. Every time I ride my Dad's goldwing (08) I like my Vision better. It may have more torque, and power, but it just doesn't compare in the comfort, and handling, as well as a functional GPS. I hate the soft clear coat, but I work around it, as I ride two-up a lot. I bought this bike to ride, and ride it I do. I have three bikes now, all paid for, and while they all are nice to have, this one gets the miles. The only really bad issue I had was with two-wheel corp, mineolamotorworks, who have frankly forgotten it is the customer who pays their bills. I would not send my enemy to them. Other than them, I have had great dealings with my local dealer, who is always wanting input from me on my Vision purchase. -----Metalguy

| Hey All Its late Thursday night and our bikes are all packed for the weekend trip including my test ride tomorrow......Yipeeee!!! I would sincerely like to thank all who took the time to offer their thoughts and experiences with their new ride. Understanding no bike is perfect, the general consensus seems to be that despite the hiccups and inconveniences, the majority are very happy with their purchase. I gotta say that after I made this post I had hoped that I was not stirring up a hornets nest, however, like I have witnessed so many times on this site, I got honest and valuable info from both sides of the coin both good and bad, which is exactly what I was hoping for. I have a plan to take a few test rides in the next few months, and then because of personal circumstances, I will only be ready to make my purchase in the spring of 09. However, in large part due to the excellent info that I have received from people on this forum I know that I will be going into this very well informed. I will be able to get exactly what I want and know exactly what I am getting. Once Again Thanks To All Gerry | |

| I don't have a Vision yet. I do own a '99 and an '03 V92C. If you ever wonder that you bought the "wrong" bike go take another make for a ride. I am not saying the other bike will be worse but it will not have the ride or the satisfaction a Victory gives you every single time you go out. Sure we have had some problems. Yes, just like any other make some people think this or that is the worse thing in the world. Many owners ask why their aren't more accessories for the Victorys but then they complain that the ones out their are too expensive.
I thank Victory and all it's workers for giving me the chance to share in owning and riding such a great bike. Here's to many more years of enjoyment.
On another note, keep your eyes open for the Victory lunch at Sturgis. I hope to meet many more new and old owners there this year. Does anyone plan to organize a ride at Sturgis for owners and friends of Victorys?

"Giddy-up"
Yes, the positives outweigh the negatives. And I LOVE this bike, and have said that since I bought it, I LOVE IT!!!!
But......
Just because the positives outweight the negatives, that doesn't mean I want the negatives...I wish I would have waited until polaris got their stuuf right. Because I am almost positive they won't help out with the exisitng problems. If they do, I will be happy as can be.

Shouldn't be more than a couple thousand dollars...Let me know when that check is in the mail. Thanks! Hey, Golfer. Granted I've only been here for a couple of months, got my bike in March and have had few problems, but most seem to agree that this bike has had few problems for a new model and they love their bike and they would buy it again under the same circumstances knowing what they know now. That says a lot. I agree with you, though. If I'd had the problems you seem to have, I would be upset too. However, it could be that the purpose of your life is only to serve as a warning to others. Thanks for the warning but I still love my bike and would buy it again.

Just to clarify yet again though...I love the bike, and would buy it again. Just not the first year. Funny how in this forum, everyone is so pro Victory Vision, that you can't say anything negative. Even the truth is sinful, lol...God forbid we all told about problems we have had which helps others solve the problem more easily...God forbid we tell the truth about issues with the bikes so others are fully informed...God forbid we put any kind of pressure on Victory to make a better product...
Bunch of blind, loyal cheerleaders up in here...Comical.
I don't know if many of you know this, but the squeeky wheel eventually gets the grease. You can all keep quiet and lie about problems on this bike, but I sure won't. I call it like it is. And I am glad at least a few people will in fact read this, take precautions, and be saved the hassle of dealing with it themselves. If no one ever complained, or wanted better, or if everyone just settled because they felt "it's good enough as is", the wheel would not have been invented.

Posts: 64 Warren, Vermont | I think I would buy it again rather than wait. The positives clearly outweigh the negatives, however, I do believe that Victory should have done a little better in several areas:
1) Their iPod interface is a great feature, except that it doesn't work that well. They went the cheap way and did not license Apple's 30-pin connector and used a 3rd party counterfeit connector instead. This resulted in bad pin-outs for some of the newer iPods. In addition, the harmonic frequency issue with hard drive-based iPods is another issue Apple engineers would have assisted upon. One more iPod issue is that while the LCD display indicates song title it is often truncated and could have been a scrolling display that indicated song and artist.
2) Fit and finish issues. The saddlebags are not properly aligned on many Visions and there is little adjustment. Some are difficult to open, too. The clips holding the front fairing in place are fragile and prone to failure with a price tag of about $250 for the part. Victory continues to decline warranty coverage for these clips. Some early models also have an annoying barely discernible dimple in the saddlebag - only annoying to the owner who has to see it every time they clean the bike.
3) I do not think enough thought/engineering was put into maintenance accessibility on the bike. There is a lot of seemingly unnecessary disassembly to accomplish simple tasks. This bike was not built with the mechanic in mind.
All that said, though, the Victory Vision is clearly the most comfortable and well-equipped bike I have owned in my over 40 years of riding. I can ride all day and I still want to keep riding when the sun goes down. I see an Iron Butt patch in my future on my Vision...

Complain all you want to, but if you do it here it goes no where. Tell the dealer, tell Victory, they are the one's who will give you action. Let us know how things are going, vent, feel free to vent, just don't bash. And those who are happy with no problems with their Vision, don't make those who are having problems with there Vision seem like they are wrong to complain. Encourage them, sympathize with them, help them, even if they do say bad things. They are hurt and a even a wild animal will bite you even when you're trying to help. Yes, this is a public forum and lurkers will read, but I think if they are mature and understand that we are just 1%er of the Vision population, they'll take it with a grain of salt. I was sold on the bike at first read and a picture, and still have no regrets. I do have some problems with my Vision, but it doesn't keep me from riding, 1 or 2up, and I feel for folk like gopher, I mean golfer who has had problems and only wants them resolved. I'm a sighted loyal Cheerleader for the Vision, to the point that when I'm at the dealer, customers think I work there because I'm trying to sell the Vision to them. My butt and the rest of my body, paratrooper knees and all, said to me, "you made the right choice." My lovely Pillion rider says "you've made the right choice." The oooh's and aaah's of people admiring the styling of the Vision say's I made the right choice, So call me blind, stupid, or crazy, it won't matter because I won't hear you above the sound of my rumbling pipes and thundering V-Twing rolling down the highway of freedom. I use the iPod Touch, maybe the most finicky of the iPod's and it does work fine. Maybe you need another cable. If you are use the hard drive type you will have problems and they are very spefic not to use those types. Other may have had success, but they are not recommended, understandably. Also, as a mechanic, I have yet to see something that was built by an engineer with the mechanic in mind. Some very basic things, yes, but overall, no. I would be afraid to see what something looked like that was built by a mechanic, I know what I would build would be functional, easy to work on, but cerntainly would nto be a pretty sight. Thanks for your comments and I think they'll have to come up with yet another category for the Iron Butt, because to me 1,000 miles is a piece a cake compared to that I did on a GL1200. I would feel guilty just ask for the certificate.

| No. How many minor issues does it take to make a major issue? The paint is ridiculous, none of the plastic fits right, the shock has blown a seal, and the audio is pure cheese.
I`m going to sell mine before the stampede. Shoulda kept the Yamaha...

Everytime I ride this bike I am more impressed with it. As it gets "broken in", I am getting better mileage (averaging 45-50 mpg), the pipes are "rapping" more and the bike does everything "just right". I did get a "recall" notice, but, haven't had anything done yet and haven't had ONE problem. So, maybe I got the only "good" one, but, as my eighth Victory, definately the BEST. ...........and again, and again, and again.................

| I have been looking into obtaining a Vision for a little more than a year now. I know hat many will refer to me as a lurker, and that is okay with me. Forums such as this allow others to learn and empower them to make an educated decision before sheeling out their hard earned money for something they are considering. I thank each of you for speaking your mind about this bike. I would expect any first year production item to have some issues. Nothing that has been mentioned will keep me from eventually owning a Vision. I respect everyone's opinion, but in the end, I will make up my own mind about what is best for me. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts about your personal experiences with this bike. Best of luck to each of you, and hopefully soon, I will also be sharing my experiences with others about my Vision. Ride safe....Ride often! | |

If there was a better bike I would buy it but there isn't. I have to agree with you Spock, there is no better bike that does what the Vision does. I got one of those V-8 bonks with my friend last week, not that I should have had a V-8, but you'll not pry a Harley out of a die-hard Harley rider either, only because it is a Harley. Not because it rides better, or runs better, or is more dependable, but it is a Harley. Those who are looking for the riding experience of a sport bike around town and a long hauler on the open road, will go for the Vision. The one's who are just looking for looks or to hide behind an icon as a symbol of manhood will continue to HD. And I say, more power to them. I find myself focusing on their bike when I talk with an HDer, and only share with them about the Vision what they ask. They still look at me dumb founded as though I'm making stuff up. I talked with Big Dog rider just yesterday that hangs at the Victory shop all the time. I asked if he has riden the Vision yet. His response was "That ain't me." I said, okay, but you like motorcycles, so why not just take it for a demo ride just to see how it rides. He just looked at me and changed the subject. Oh well. lowtone9, I do hope things will work out for you either path you take. I'll ride with you any day whether you're ridin' a Yamaha or a Vision. Peace Bro.

We'll find out in the morning.
They (the dealer) has had my bike for 2 weeks to fix the radio issues (they had to order and install a new radio to fix digital readout problem and accessory failures), and to do the ignition recall.
I called last Thursday afternoon and the parts were on the bike but it hasn't been started yet since they were installing my last chrome goodies and new dash (I had it painted black).
He was supposed to call me Saturday … but I didn't hear anything and I was busy working so I forgot to call before they closed.
I am on vacation this week.
They know it to.
Got bike riding trip all planned out.
If my bike is fixed I think I will lose it and crack up.
I bought bike to get away from the BS of the day-to-day working world.
So far no flippin luck!

I have had a bad (hard) couple weeks with work.
I can't think of any plastic issue off the top of my head. Right now my head is fogged ... long story.
I need about 14 hour sleep and 2,000 mile on my bike to clear my head.

Was in Indy today with truck.
Heading down 37 towards home I must have seen 50 bikes per mile in the Bloomington area. Everybody but me must have been out riding today.
Had some guy on Victory bike pass me real slow and he spotted my 'Vision Pilot' and 'Vision Rider' stickers .... he gave me the 'thumbs up' as he speed off!

Rats, gotta add yet another problem to the list which has developed since last night...Tuner is not working on the stereo. You push up, it goes up and down, you push down, it goes up and down. Just back and forth between stations.
I guess I shouldn't complain though, that is only the 25th problem I have had in my first month of ownership...

Posts: 2027 Brighton, TN | Golfer - I have been watching and waiting before responding to any of your posts. I agree and disagree with some of your posts like most on here probably do. As if you needed an introduction to who I am or the calamities that seem to happen upon me, I'll just say go back and take a read through this forum, you will find me. I have owned a lot of four wheeled vehicles and this is only my second bike. Out of every single one of the four wheeled vehicles there has always been some kind of Recall or Technical Service Bulletin on how to fix something normally not under warranty or it could be covered, but for me not normally. I have paid from $600 to $55,000 for vehicles and yet to have one that would not be without a problem. Brand new $55,000 3/4 ton Yukon XL designed with luxury and ability to tow. Vehicle wouldn't tow over 35 without scaring you half to death. No one from GMC Dealer to Trailer Dealers to Independent so called experts were able to make the vehicle tow anything without a whole lot of pucker factor. Took a little doing but I got GMC to buy it back without a lawsuit (might have been lucky or a good dealer, not sure). So, my question to you, would be, I paid double and then some for that machine what you paid for your bike. Should I have just thrown the towel in or should I have continued to find a dealer to work with me. I found a Dealer out of Decatur, Texas, James Wood Dealership, who gives you that down home feel and takes care of issues. Awesome, I now live over 8 hours from that dealership and wouldn't hesitate a moment to drive the distance and buy another one.
I understand a lot of the problems, most of which should and probably will be handled by either your current or future dealer. I haven't heard or remember if any of these problems have been really addressed by your dealer. Most of the stuff you list are pretty straight forward repairs. Crooked windshield, replace the mechanism and / or the windshield. Yes, it should have been caught by the dealer, but in my experience you have to go find a Good One that will LOVE you Like the GOLFER you are. A little sugar when you show up, a good handshake and maybe a Dr. Pepper in the other. Tall B or Big D, or small T, you listenin' Dr. Pepper keeps me comin' back (little side bar).
Last bit of tangled emotions (cause I'm in touch with my girly side). I have had my fair share of Recalls and issues, I don't think there will ever be a perfect machine made. There is always someone somewhere, who will think it should have been different. I understand and know firsthand the frustration associated with something that feels subpar. I feel like I got a good price for my bike, could of been less Tall B. But compared to the other bikes in this price range it seems like I got a better deal. Even with problems of sheetrock and Commander in Chief of Home Base. I can shine my bike up and can make it look dang near brand new as with most of my vehicles.
I'm done. Enjoy, ride on, check pulse, make sure it works, twist throttle for some effect and ride whatcha got or go get something else. Either way they will all have something to bitch about, I guarantee it (Quote from the Men's Warehouse commercial). Let me/us know if you need another reputable dealer who can help you out.
Calling out any dealers willing to help a brother or a sister out. I need some help, but more related to Dr Pepper and feathery chickens. I digress.

Posts: 332 Dale, Indiana | I guess many of us haven't adapted to the New Age of man where just because one made an effort it's ok, and it's considered being enlightened to remain calm and cool while being screwed.
I like many came form an age where they did it right, and in the case of a new type of rollout such as the Victory Vision the manufacture didn't act like they didn't hear you and they worked with you to fix every issue.
For something that cost in the mid $20,000 range once you add a few extras, folks just feel like they should not have to beg to have an issue addressed. We all expect problems, and ALL of us would NEVER give up our Vision!
Most of us would only get our Vision taken away from us ‘by prying our Vision from our cold dead hands'.
I admire those who can take it in the butt and like it; I also understand the frustration of those who have had their share of issues. However, like I said; many of us come form a different age where service meant service, and manufactures, dealers, and the people on the assembly line took pride in making an issue and non-issue.
Taking shots at those who expect more then silence from the people they dished out about $25,000 too only impresses the pacifist of today's world and makes them cheerleaders for those who don't take pride in what the build.
This is not my first horseshow.
I've had other new rollouts and I have had some that had issues. I also have had manufactures stick their fingers in their ears and I had manufactures take much interest.
Because of the passion and position I have in my industry I receive many tech devices to try, test, and debug because I am a gadget junky.
Victory's silence is interesting to say the least. However, as long as there is warranty, parts (as slow as they show up), updates, and improvements I won't dump them. I understand in today's sue happy world you just can't admit to bugs and problems, you just fix them while trying to remain under the radar of lawyers.

| It feel bad for you having all the problems you have discribed above, but we are big boys and we should know that there will be problems with any mechine this complicated. 1. We should test drive the vehicle and look for imprefections before we buy. Listen to the radio, try the cruise control and if hatches don't open and close ask the dealer about these problems. 2. Checkout the dealer!!!!! this is the most important part for your happiness in the future. A good dealer will make your Vision more enjoyable. If you can't find a good one to do business with, maybe you should not buy a Vision. Remember, before they get your money, they are all friendly. So do your homework and check them out. 3. Last but not least remember, these are motorcycle people and there all a little nuts. I would like to end by saying that my bike and dealer are wonderful and know that I have bragged I expect the bike to brake down and my dealer to close. Bruce | |

Posts: 2027 Brighton, TN | I come from the similar age where a hand shake meant your word was good. But since the creation of automobiles there has never been a make or model without problems, no matter the amount of prep work or QA. I bet during your generation where the line workers took pride that you will remember, the old saying " Don't buy a car made on Monday or Friday!" That comment was very prevalent through the 60's and 70's. I bet if you lined up a car built on Monday and one on Wednesday during the 60's or 70's YOU could tell the difference. In addition I know for a fact a lot of assembly lines were designed by engineers and ran by non-engineers and there was no communication between the two. When the machine quit working or making parts out of spec, they would continue to run the equipment and run parts out of spec, even though the engineers said it was up to spec. AHHH! Quality! Pride! This is something that runs the span of time.
I don't see "just an effort", the engineering prowess that went into this bike and all the new pieces and out of the box norm thinking. There is no other bike like it on the road, I'm not talking about just the fancy bodywork, but look under the skin and a lot is NEW not old school mentality, or that is the way we have always done it. To go out on a limb and use some of the modern, new, technologies and materials is a JUMP or LEAP into the more modern era with advances in engineering and materials. Kudos to the Victory Teams.
As for being calm, show me where in your lifetime it pays off in the long run for you or the person you are venting expressively too, to get off your rocker and get uncalmed. Sure the loud and squeaky wheel gets greased and gets what he wants, happens a lot. So does, being patient and being squeaky.
I have seen the same post about the same things over and over from the same guy, I too have grown tired of the tirade. How about you go to the dealer or good dealer and then see what they say. If no love, see who you can get in contact with at another dealer or pursue up through the dealers Regional Rep. Normally, they can be scheduled to talk with you, you just have to schedule it. Still no love ask for help here if you are so inclined. I have seen a lot of people offering help to either post their fixes or put you in touch with someone that can.
Do you know for a fact that the people built it don't have pride in their work or the engineers. Could it be that there were circumstances beyond their control and deadlines to meet. You can only test so long before you have to take a chance and produce what you have at the moment. Then put out recalls and TSB's to fix stuff after the fact. It happens and always has.
If Victory stop supporting or putting out fixes then there may be a problem. But at the moment, I see people getting help for their toys. Then again you could be driving around in a horse drawn buggy, but then it too would have recalls and something to bitch about.
Ride it, repair it, ride it some more, repair or maintenance it! Ride it some more till your done! Then sell it to someone who will enjoy a new toy.

Posts: 332 Dale, Indiana | This all reminds of when I rode back in the 80's. We Honda guys would ride by Harley guys who were repairing their bikes on the side of the road as they made fun of our Jap Bikes.
It seemed to insult them if we asked if they needed help.
That's part of the bike culture that I never understood. Many love working on bikes as much as they love riding them.
Heck, I see it here. Many had to take their Vision apart as soon as they got it home.
Back to the culture, I have noticed that many put much on power, performance, and style, but put little on reliability.
As for as an American made bike Victory is number from what I have read. The others need a box of tools to make road trips.
Reminds me of the millionaire furniture manufacturing company owner I know real well.
His wife bought him a brand new top of the line Harley. He rode it a little around town to show everybody how great a real bike is.
Then came Sturgis.
His employees loaded it and his friend's bikes on a trailer and they pulled it all the way to Sturgis for them with his Motor Coach.
He and his other rich buddies fly out on his plane.
When he got there it was gas, cleaned, and ready to ride.
2nd lap around Sturgis it threw a rod.
Loaded back up on trailer and he went and got drunk!
Hmm, sitting around drinking and relaxing couldn't be all bad.
But ‘I just wanna ride' the bike not work on it.
I am strange that way.
I used to love to sit around on weekends in the woods and drink, reason being I am selling my camper. Need to move more and drink less.

I used to love to sit around on weekends in the woods and drink, reason being I am selling my camper. Need to move more and drink less. Well, IRR, that is part of our culture, ride, ride ride. I take it that is why you are a truck driver. I have that same blood running through my veins, I can't sit still long and driving seems to sooth that restlessness. Others, it is show and no go, or just to ride ot have a war story to tell. I found it all part of the game when I was riding to see my son in Texas last September and my clutch was going out. Fortunately it was during the day and I got a hold of my mech back home when I was in Georgia. He said use DOT3 Brake fluid as a temporary fix of the DOT4. The fluid was old and all that stuff. It worked but if I rode for a long time, I had to "pump" the clutch to get it to disengage. I finally made to corpus christi, Tx some 900 miles later to get it fixed. I was pushing for my 1,500 Bun Burning and didn't want to fix it until I made the trek, which I did. The funny thing is that the papers still sit on my floor to send to IBA, but you know what, that certificate is not as important as knowing I did it, because I love to ride. I made my second "group" ride last Saturday, my first was last years Rolling Thunder. I'm not into group rides either because it is not a 200 mile trek to an unknown, it is a 65 mile trip around the block but for a cause. 75% of the time is sitting and talking about the ride and 25% is the ride. I like to ride, not talk about it, but the cause was good, and the fellowship was great. I'm more of what the wife and I did Memorial Day. What turned out to me a 10 mile ride to get breakfast ended in a 175 mile ride to Baltimore for soup. Then a 200 mile meandering on the way home. What a day of riding, perfect in every aspect and totally unplanned. I'm sure there were many out who only saddle up on the weekends, and that is fine. I don't understand it, but more power too them. I work with a few people that don't understand why I ride everday to work, rain or shine, and even in wintery conditions. I don't understand why they don't ride everyday, but they have an excuse when they don't. It might rain, I have to do something else, didn't have time (?), blah, blah, blah. Okay, I just let them be, and we talk about motorcycles when we can. So, while I'll agree with you, as I have been in the same situation in stopping to help a Harley rider who won't even speak to you, but I've also got help from a biker who rode a Harley when my little 350 broke down. So I say to you and the rest who really love to ride, ride on!

]Well, IRR, that is part of our culture, ride, ride ride.
I thought that was my point.
I want to ride! Not fix it, not wait on parts, not let it sit at a dealer wondering where my parts are.
As I said; some would rather work on the bike then ride it.
Some like polishing better then riding too. Never understood that either.
Oh well everything is getting out of context and the only way we'll fix that is JUST RIDE! (Later we'll have a few beers)

I don't know you, but, I don't get that about you. Your issues seem legit. I am wondering if it has something to do with that particular bike? As I recall, you got a "flaming" deal on it and had to go pick it up....so the seller isn't the dealer that has to "fix" it. Do you think he knew something about that particular bike and was happy to unload it? I think too, on these forums, we are inclined to hear about "problems". People talk longer and louder when they are dissatisfied than when happy. I don't see anyone that is happy with there bike, going on and on about it, day after day. The problems you are having (and you seem to have them all) may be experienced by one or two owners (which seem to get resolved by dealers or Victory), but I haven't read anything like what you are experiencing on one bike...........any model........ever. I wish there was something I could do to help and yes, I am very happy it's not happening to me. Posts: 1324 So Cal | Considering the 10 years Victory has been in production, their reliability is second to none. Who remembers, back in the early 80's when Honda started making automobiles? The front struts and fenders couldnt hold up to the harsh winters and salt used to clear the road. The struts were rotting away, allowing the front suspension to collapse. I remember seeing shiney new front fenders on otherwise, rust buckets. They learned, the hard way. 8 months now, and this bike has yet to fail me. The rest is just minor.

Thanks for understanding, wish more people did...
I did in fact buy from a dealership. It is over 16 hours round trip to go there. The dealer has absolutely bent over backwards for me, with the exception of paying for all of this out of pocket. I have been involved with his attempts to get things corrected, and not unlike we as customers, he has been given a run around from Victory as well. I have found that some people, and some dealers get whatever they want, and some don't get shit. Both dealerships near me stopped selling Vics because A) they could not sell them, B) they felt Victory sucked balls when it came to service and support. I did in fact get a smoking deal. And it for that reason alone, I do not expect the dealership to eat the costs associated with the numerous problems my bike is having. I have discovered that if I voice my dissatisfaction enough publicly in these forums, I will get matters resolved. My snowmobile was no exception, Polaris as well....I not only voice my problems to get them remedied by Victory, but also to alert others. Most here do not seem to appreciate the importance of both. Most here are happy they have no problems and think that since they have perfect bikes, I should shut the %$^& up...I always wondered why people have that mentality. Mine is fine, so you need to quit complaining even though yours isn't...Cracks me up.
By the way, last night my support cable for the trunk lid broke out of it's fitting, luckily nothing broke when it happened. Picture the panic and desparation of someone watching thier trunk lid go over backwards with a terrible crunching plastic noise...As a warning to others, this happened because the trunk rack is too heavy for the tiny wire support to handle the extra weight. And yes, i was always cautious in supporting the trunk lid until it rested with the wire extended. But I guess since it has not happened to anyone else, I should just shut my trap....

Posts: 2027 Brighton, TN | Golfer - I was kinda dun till you responded. I have a few questions - please feel free to answer them. Small statement first - I don't think anywhere in this have I recommended you shut the #%$%^$%^ up. Basically, what I'm after, give some hints as to what has been done or not done. Where you are at in the process? What can we do as a collective whole to help you or anyone else out?
Basically, guy came on here because his bags didn't align right. One guy tore his apart after no satisfaction from dealer and figured it out. Then posted what he did to fix it. There are always ingenius folks who will tear something apart to help.
So, Your statement, "I have discovered that if I voice my dissatisfaction enough publicly in these forums, I will get matters resolved." Please explain, I don't have firsthand experience here.
"Most here do not seem to appreciate the importance of both. Most here are happy they have no problems and think that since they have perfect bikes, I should shut the %$^& up...I always wondered why people have that mentality. Mine is fine, so you need to quit complaining even though yours isn't...Cracks me up."
Have you been reading the entire thread! Once again, please explain - I and others have stated we understand but are looking for how it gets resolved or what we can do to help resolve it.
There is a lot of venting and complaining here and most of us are pretty light hearted about most of the situations that occur and more than often a lot of the fella's and gals give up hints or decent advice on how to fix problems.
I am pretty much done with my sensitive side for the moment. You are more than welcome to vent and rant and rave, just help me in understanding when you are done what you had to do to get your problems resolved or not. Here to help if need be.
I joined this board cause I was able to be half or 3/4 off my rocker and still keep some sanity in the process. So, I will go BACK to my Wily ways and search once again for Soaring Eagle or just put my cowboy boots on and run three time counterclockwise with barley in one hand and oats in the other, hops in my boots and see if I can make beer. Or I find corn mash and attempt shinin'!

Basically, what I'm after, give some hints as to what has been done or not done. Where you are at in the process? What can we do as a collective whole to help you or anyone else out?
What has been done is about half the problems are fixed, or I just don't care enough to work them out. Where I am in the process, is it appears Victory wants me to piss up a rope, "first they have heard of it" type of response...
If I voice my dissatisfaction....On my snowmobile, Polaris screwed the pooch so badly, I layed out a full assault on 2 different forums, and I mean really laid it out. I had already had numerous phone calls with Polaris with MANY different people. Nothing worked, so I went public. Let's just say that they do monitor these forums, and my snowmobile has been taken care of.
I have followed the thread, and many seem to just want to talk about how great the bike is, and it has no problems. Ra, ra, ra!!!!!
I guess I am just overwhelmed at how many problems I am having with the bike. It is seriously almost every time I ride it something new goes wrong. I guess I just expected alot better product due to my very positive experience with my Kingpin. I like to ride. I hardly even wash my bikes. I don't like dealing with all this crap.

Posts: 2027 Brighton, TN | Thanks, I concur with all the crap. I have my fair share of problems and have been out of riding a couple of times.
Okay, so if all the ranting and raving gets it taken care of, what do we have to do? Put a large post and keep it toward the top where most people can see it and keep it up there till the fix floats its way to you or how do you know when it has served its purpose?
I think I will just sit back and watch the tirade and please let me know how it fares out for you / us. Vent on / Assault full on? Go Golfer!
Is there anyone here that anonymously would like to pipe up, anonymously, that you are monitoring? Just curious?
You always wonder about these things.
