Posts: 103 Duanesburg N.Y. | Dragged the vision out to wash it down and give it the once over before riding season starts. The polished wheels once again have turned to total crap. THATS IT!!! The rear tire will be gone at the end of this season with the front probably being gone next season.
I need to have a better way to keep the wheels clean. I have polished and waxed until my fingers hurt and the wheels still turn to shit asap.
I am a clean and wax guy so in your opinion should I powder coat the wheels or chrome them out. If I powder coat, suggestions on a wheel color??? There is a place called powdertech in Duanesburg 8 miles from my house who does nice work If I chrome, anybody know of a shop near Schenectady N.Y.??
Either way it will only be a little money, chrome being more of course but clean up will be so much easier.

Posts: 3773 Pittsburgh, PA | if you chrome your o.c.d. side will REALLY come out if you are concerned with dirty wheel Now!... lol my wheels are the stock black that victory has and i rarely every clean my rear wheel, because you can barely tell it is dirty (being black) .. years ago i used to have a custom set of R.C. component wheels on one of my other bikes.. as cool as they looked, they made me Not want to ride of there was a 50% chance of rain. and they were insane to keep clean. plus the more you tried to keep them clean the more little surface swirls you would find in the chrome... in was a lose lose situation for Me... |

27,000 miles of dirt.
Whatever OEM finish they have gone to on my 2011 is easily cleaned even after that amount of neglect. |

Posts: 103 Duanesburg N.Y. | I want to go the vic dealer this week and see what the new visions are doing with their wheels, There are many colors of powder coating out there now that would accent the cherry red metalic of the bike. The wheels right now feel like 120 grit corosion. I dont know if I can get the wheel powder coated in 2 colors or not. I just need a finish that will wash off and not look like shit the next day.

| Eric...I am also one of those "clean freaks" when it comes to my bike...At my age (72) it is getting more difficult to keep rear wheel clean...I just detailed the bike yesterday and cleaned the wheels....The black used on the 2011 wheels is not hard to clean and seems to wipe up nicely...I found some cotton hand mitts at a garage sale, spray them with Honda cleaner and wipe the wheels down....Seems to work for me and they stay clean for a while.........I would take the advise of those here and not chrome them, I had chrome on my last bike and what a pain in the ass..........Good Luck |

You would if you rode the area's up here in the mid-Atlantic/northeast; especially between bouts of snow/ice and salt.
My aluminum wheels on all of my bikes stay in pretty good shape; only because I'll clean the wheels once a week. |

where do you live?????
If you polish them to a high shin like you say why not find a painter and see if he can clear coat them. |
