Saw that there's been some severe weather in the south/western states over the last days and know that a good number of members are probably in the middle of it. Just hoping you all stay safe and let us know how you fare.

So far so good, except I can't ride. But it's supposed to be 75 and sunny this weekend.

We're on the north end of that system and are getting all the rain now that we didn't get last summer. The river on my farm is out of its banks and rising. My lower fields are going to look like a lake by morning.

Are your house and out buildings safe from water damage? Hopefully not too much property gets washed away.

Thanks for asking. Yes, we're safe. The buildings are all on high ground. The flood is mostly an inconvenience for us this time of the year. The crops haven't been planted yet. Sometimes we can get a late Spring or early Summer flood. That's serious. Crops get ruined. Last year we lost crops to the drought. Such is farming.

That's why I have a truck driving job, so I can afford to keep the farm. It doesn't make economic sense, but I love the land and the country living.

I was out in Eastern Kansas today. Their flooding is worse than ours. Lots of acres under water. Looked like a few wheat fields were lost.
