| O.K.... Let's talk about blinkers.
Although you have not heard any news about these in quite a while, there has been a lot going on behind the scenes. The priority of this product is to have a safe and reliable unit that can easily be installed by even the most timid mechanic. Plug and play. No crimp connectors that loosen up, no chance of cutting the wrong wire and ruining a perfectly good bike, just plug 'em in and ride. As you have been reading, the electronics involved in "tricking" the cruise control to operate successfully and the front blinkers to flash at the normal rate takes time to figure out. There is the concern that the lights are too bright for night use and will need a photometric dimming circuit, and some are concerned about passing inspection with a unit that is not OEM.
So rather than put a unit out that fixes one problem and then a month or two later another unit that fixes two problems and then..... I have decided to put as many features into the first units and make this a quality product that the majority of users will be very pleased with.
The final product will be shipped in OEM mode. The LEDs will be split (electronically) in 3 sections. These three distinct sections will operate exactly as the original lights you are replacing, but will be much brighter and put out a more even light. This OEM mode is an option in programming, so if you desire, you can change the program to different sequential patterns and braking modes. The non OEM patterns can be used for off road or show use only at the owners discretion. When it comes time for your annual inspection, the unit can then be programmed back into OEM mode and meet all necessary legal requirements.
There will also be an option to incorporate the built in photometric control. This option can be programmed from the menu if you feel the lights are too bright at night. This will sense the ambient light and adjust the LED output accordingly. During bright sun, the LEDs will be at maximum brightness and will dim accordingly as it gets dark out.
So as you can see, there is a lot to do to get this product to market. The logistics of creating one or two blinker units is quite different than starting a production line that has to supply multitudes of product to be distributed, setting up and designing a production line as opposed to assembling a few on a bench and the hours of design in electronics and writing programs etc.
So, thank you for your patience and understanding. I will inform you as soon as the new website is up and running and you can see video of how to program the unit as well as the different patterns that will be available. I would hope to be shipping product soon, but don't keep asking "when". I want these to ship just as much as you do!
Thank You

Fountain Inn, SC United States | Glen - Thanks for the update. It's better to hear it straight from the source rather than filtered through MBW and then me. Not that MBW or I would say it differently, I just wouldn't be able to say things with confidence or answer technical questions.
I can tell you that the set I've been riding around with have been flawless and very bright. I think the photometric control is a great idea having ridden with friends who were following me at night.
FYI- In MASS, the OEM setting will be required to pass state inspection. |
