Anyone have a source for a new seat cover.....mines coming apart at the stitching. I know I could take it to an upholstery shop but around here everyone wants a small fortune to do anything.

Aaron if you find one let me know. Mines doing the same thing and I've been unable to find a cover. And all the shops around here want to keep the seat two weeks and this isn't the time of year I want to park the bike.

Contact Mean City Cycles. They get rave reviews from the VTXOA forums (Honda VTX forum). They have an appointment system so you can send it in; get it done immediately and they send it back out to you:

Eight weeks? The price is decent but the time is ridiculous.

I have to agree with you, the seat material isn't up to par with the rest of the bike. This is the only bike I've owned that did this. I rode my wing to well over 100k without any seat issues.

The seat on my '08 is coming majorly apart on both sides. My dealer said he has another with that problem, too. I think Ma Vic needs to step up on this one.

I agree with but I also wish you good luck. Mine's doing the same thing and Vic says take it to the dealer and see what he will do.

A year ago a rider said the seat was ripping at the threads. So I went and rubbed mink oil on all the threads thinking maybe they dry out is why they rip.
So far good

Got to give thanks to my dealership... They installed a 2010 seat on my 09 because I wanted a backrest prior to picking the bike up!  30k miles and no issues!

My stitching is also coming apart. The seat guy at Quaker Steak and Lube on Wed nights quoted me $75 and he'll do it while I wait and he will double stitch is so it doesn't happen again.

No, just to remove the stock one, double stitch it and replace it. I still think it's a good price. The guy from "Stitch in time" wants about $800 to recover with exotic material, tempur foam and a design stitched in. The heat would still work. His big thing is alligator. He was featured in Go Far magazine.
