Weel we finally got the chance yesterday to try out our SENA Bluetooth and dongles, New GPS and the Ipod connection on the Vision. We also pulled the trailer behind us as this is a new adventure as well, we wound up in Morehead city for lunch and then returned home near Raleigh. Ok, back to the Blue tooth, one word, "Terrible", Sitting next to each other and we constantly would start to lose our connection, scratchy and breaking up. Next the music from the Ipod was not understandable but had to be turned off as it would just give you a headache listening to that "Noise". I stopped and tried multiple times to adjust the the settings on the Ipod as well as Bass and Treble on the bikes system but could only get a slight improvement. The GPS, Vlume on the unit is not strong enough, if you are listening to the radio "Noise" and the volume on your headset is turned down because of the noise you cannot hear the GPS. There is no adjustement for this only by turning your headset up louder. GPS is set to 100% volume. What really make this irritating, I cannot turn off my music, if I do than I also turn off the GPS, I had to put the system in Aux Nav, that turned the music off but let me listen to GPS and a very loud humming sound. I know this is new for the Victory but this crap is now pretty old technology compared to the way technology advances. Not sure yet what we are going to do.. The trip to the coast was nice though and the vision pulled the trailer and 2-up with no problem.. Oh and saw one other Vision on the trip, they are few and far between, I like that.

Hi,
I bought the SENA bluetooth 2 years ago and love it. Speaker location is critical and if there is too much space between the helmet and your ear that will affect the volume. Crystal clear, plenty of volume. I have 4 headsets and have been impressed with the range of the units probably at about 1/2 a mile and still clear. The achilles heal for me is I have blown the speakers. They make a unit for earbuds and I have started using that and like it because at highway speed the earbuds keep out the road noise. We each use our own MP3 player with its own dongle. I sync my Garmin Zumo 550 to my headset and I can speak with 3 other units. Sometimes syncing the units is a struggle but I am very satisfied. This will be my third season and I'm curious to see how long the battery lasts in the pods as they are not replaceable but last season they would last all day long. I'm wondering if you have your connections made differently from mine. Try connecting a dongle to the IPOD and sync the dongle to the headset and see if you have good audio. If so, try it with the other headset to try to narrow it down. Also with mine, the GPS over-rides other inputs.

Are these the blue tooth dongles from Victory? Are you able to change songs and volume from your bike controls but hear all from the headsets/?
Youre using the Sena smh10's right? Very interested in your results. I was about to pull the trigger and buy the Victory dongles and Sena headsets.

Thanks for the input, here is what I have... Victory SENA dongles and headset (Which is SENA).. The dongles appear to be the problem, my wife and I can talk to each other when the bike is off with no problem.. The dongles on the bike (2 of them) one for me and her.. everything goes through the bikes audio system to the dongles..GPS,Radio, ipod.. I have no volume control on the bike with the headsets on.. the bikes volume control only controls the external speakers on the bike. You have to adjust the SENA volume control, the Ipod can be manipulated by advancing the songs but not the volume on the bikes controls.. I do have a hum or noise through these dongles which is very irritating, I tried moving them out of the "hole in the trunk" where they are located and put them up inside the trunk, did not make a difference. Probably calling the dealer tuesday. I see the new 12 models have a wired communication system already built in, or at least I think I read that.

Please keep us posted! Maybe find out if the 2012 system can be used on older bikes without problems? Or is it the existing cb setup?
You spent about $800-900 on the system and it sure should work for that price. I don't mind spending the money as long as they do what it says they will.
I love the radio on Vision and have just the Iphone plugged in. I just want to be able to talk to the wife and the great radio through the headsets with out losing anything like the auto up and down volume, ability to change songs & volume from the handle bars. Good luck on Tuesday. Could be just a different input or something easy for you. Did it come with good instructions?

I had some weird issues myself. Had it for a few months, everything works honky-dory. Two days ago, I go to a parking lot with my wife, we turn on our headsets, and MY headset is REALLY scratchy, but only when trying to talk through the intercom with her. My MP3 player and phone are crystal clear. HER headset is fine for everything.

So I updated the firmware to 4.0, and haven't gotten a chance to check out our intercom. Since it worked fine before, and was scratchy just that one day, I'm guessing it can be better again. Hopefully this firmware update will work out whatever that days kinks were.

The SENA came with very good instructions.. my wife and I had the headsets since last September, we have had no problem talking back and forth up until this weekend. I believe the problem is going to be the "New Victory Dongles" that were installed so that we could listen to the Radio, Ipod etc... I was on the SENA website and now I see they have a Stereo Headset System, might be something to look into.

Okay, after some system shuffling the dongles appear to be the problem. What we did was play the IPOD and onboard music through the dongles on the bike. As soon as you connect with the onboard system you hear the noise, we rode with this and listened for a while and then went to the other way of listening. I had setup our new Garmin GPS bluetooth system to link to our headsets and loaded music and also paired the phone. I removed the dongles on the bike. I gave my wife the IPOD and wired the IPOD in to her headset. I hooked up through bluetooth to the Garmin.. What a difference, crystal clear on the bluetooth, could hear all the commands from the GPS and the music was clear, also had a call come in from our niece and could hear her clear as well as she hearing me. My wife and I could communicate with no problem. I spoke with my dealer and he is going to call Victory about the problem with the dongles, though it works but not like you would expect should. I do have 2 Victory dongles for sale if you are interested.

SteveS - 2012-04-08 9:41 AM Hi, I'm curious to see how long the battery lasts in the pods as they are not replaceable.

 Actually the iPod batteries are quite easy to replace, go to;

http://www.ipodbatterydepot.com/shopping/productdetails_m.asp?recordid=8

They carry the replacement batteries and have clear how to instructions and even supply the only tool you will need.

Just a 'Heads Up' - I have been using the SENA SMH10 units for maybe a year. Last weekend when I plugged one of them in to recharge, the 'red' charging light didn't come on. I 'fiddled' with the jack and discovered 'movement' that didn't exist on my other unit - something inside had come unfastened, and disabled the charging ability. So the unit is kaput.

I have contacted SENA and applied for some sort of warranty replacement. I will let you know how that works out.

I talked to Arizona Victory to a guy named "Dan" He said he has installed 2 sets of the Dongles so far and they have not come back. He did say you only need one Dongle and one Jumper cable "but" you need to buy a third cable that runs towards the rear of the bike that is not listed in the catalog!! He is supposed to email me all the part numbers, but nothing so far. Those three components is all you need for the rider and passenger to listen and talk. That's good news that you don't have to buy two sets of everything.
Hopefully someone who installed them will speak up here on the forum. He also said it's a full proof no brainer install just clipping connectors together and they can't be installed wrong.

Fyi, after updating and resetting/resynching my headsets, all is well again for me. SENA still gets a big two thumbs up from me.
