Mt. Vernon, WASH. | Next time try to go on an 'Open Cockpit' weekend where they put stands up to the airplanes so you can look into the cockpits, I was there about 8 years ago and in addition to an OCD, there was also a car show on the ramp (got a cool shot of 2 real 64 FAIRLANE THUNDERBOLT drag cars in front of the museums P-47 so I got 3 TBolts in one shot). The P-38 and the B-24 were both rescued from the Aleutian Islands (think Deadliest Catch) and restored from basically scrap metal, it looks like the B-24's restoration is making good progress. If you're in the neighborhood, it's well worth the side trip as its free and very interesting. |
