Well shoot guys. We are stuck. Having a great time and are very lucky to have shelter and food. There are many that don't. We have no way to go, stuck between closures. Been stuck for 4 days now and hoping we are rolling ASAP. Not sure we will vl be able to do everything we wanted as we are now about 2000+ miles behind sched.
Split wood all day for the owner of the campground we are holed up in, earned a free nights stay. Not what I had planned for my adventure but it could be worse. Will make for a great story down the road. Of the 3400 miles we have traveled the bikes been perfect.
Ride safe |

Make a good memory and story out of it. Bet ya u can do something to make it worthwhile. Just thinking outloud. Wanna trade? |

| Just keeps gettin better boys! 70 miles outside of kallispel, mt my drive belt broke. My original had 51000 on it, dealer advised me to put on new prior to the trip, 3 weeks later it breaks. I'm so pissed about it, not looking for sympathy, but some advice.
No rock scars, dealer in kalispell looked at the belt and said it was either a faulty belt or misalignment, they hope to have me rolling Monday for a 4 day delay here in mt. The belt rippled off belt guard, belt guard wedged in and bent Philly lip. I hopeful the shops deal me right, if this was a 2 year old 25000 mile belt I'd have no reason to bitch, but this belt is 3 weeks old, caused damage and really screwed my trip 2600 miles from home.
What remedy would you guys expect with such a pickle as this? And advice? Thanks. Trying to be calm and give the shop the opportunity to make right, but ready to react if they don't
Ride safe y'all |

Posts: 8144 New Bohemia, VA | Jeff, I wish I was in your shoes, sorta. New belt, but were you in "rough terrain"? The bad thing about belts is that new or old, belts can go at anytime if conditions are right. I can attest to wasting a belt because of bad alignment. Proving it was strictly the belts fault will be a challenge, but I think if the evidence is right, and presented without emotions, you might have a fighting chance. |

| No terrain, good road. Cruising at 60 pulling no torque. The shop here in kallispel could find no scars, rocks evidence at all, but did point out some delaminating near the break. That's all over my head. Lead tech here seemed to think it was one of 2 things, bad belt, or misalignment. I do know the shop at home that put it on was his first time installing on a Vision, because he said hex pilsner believe what a pain it was to do on a vision and next time he will add a hour to standard shop time for the job. Ill trade places with you, would die to have my 2 weeks of vaca back and start this trip again. It's been rough, but I guess I'll tell stories and laugh later, but not at this moment.
Thanks for the reply and take care. Will update when I hear more tomorrow |
