Posts: 395 Moravia, IA | So at my local bike night they have a dyno.....you pay your $30 and they do 4 pulls and give you a readout.
I was wanting to do a little adjusting so I looked these guys up a bit earlier and got on the dyno.
Now I wasnt going for a drag strip racer here.....just wanting some "rideability" improvement with minimal cash outlay. Lloyds cams, fuel controller, intake plate, K&N air filter up front and some Cycle Dragon exhaust I scavanged off eBay.....total outlay about $1500 tops....including the labor.

Got about 102hp and 109 ft/lbs of torque. I was a bit disappointed with the numbers.....the tech told me to stick around and watch them put a few HDs on the dyno some time. .....so at the next bike night I watched a few HDs run the dyno. Now I have no idea what was done to any of these bikes.....disclaimer. A guy ran a (his words) "built" 95" - got something like 78hp...he wasnt impressed. A guy ran a pissed off sounding 1200 Sportser that he said was "worked over".......67hp. I saw a newer 103" ran.....think it just had pipes and a fuel controller/K&N........it just barely broke 70hp. Left bike night feeling a bit better 'bout the old Vision.

Posts: 324 New Orleans, La, | So what have you done to your VV to get the numbers you got? Depending on what you did to the VV, ie. mods, and the skill of the dyno operator those numbers may be either on point or depressed due to the skill, or lack thereof, of the operator. Typically dyno runs at bike nights are one pull runs by unskilled operators on hot engined bikes. |

Posts: 324 New Orleans, La, | Just saw the mods in your post and I conclude that the torque number is about on point but the HP number is a little suspect. Looking at the average numbers from Lloyd dyno page on his site it looks like you're down 6 HP from the average HP figure he gets on bikes he tunes and dynos. The difference may lie more in factors nor associated to the VV mods but other factor both human and enviormental. Still I think a nearly 16 HP increase over stock with 3 parts is damn good for the money.Short of the new BMW GTL you should be the big dog in real world bagger bikecompetition in your neck of the woods. Just saying.

Posts: 45 Ventura County, CA | I too did this a couple of weeks ago at our HD/Victory dealer at their bike show. I was also a little disappointed in the numbers. However, I did grab the top spot for the day and he did not even push it all the way. They were really impressed with the power band, a lot more than I was. They said it probably had more in it as the curve kept going straight up. However, they were to afraid to take it to redline since the bike officially tops out at 6k on the gauge. He said that had it taken it up all the way he might have got a few more HP out of it. It looks as if yours cut out at 5.5k and there is still more HP to go, just not a lot of torque left. If you want the additional HP, you will need to remove the RPM restriction by using Lloyds ECM program or using the PowerCommander V and setting it to 6400 RPM. Take a look at my curve and you will see what I mean. BTW, Temp, humidity and atmosphere all play a big part as well. Had I shown up in the morning when it was only in the 70's I would have shown more HP's. This is pretty much a game if you are just trying to show top HP. But it is really useful to see how the bike was tuned. The tuners were very impressed with my curve and said that there was absolutely nothing that they could do to improve it. They told me that this was the type of curve that they would love to be able to achieve with just about any bike.

Just a stingy dyno. Nice lookin' graph though! As was stated already, a PC-V or Lloydz custom ECM will give you a higher rev-limit. Not sure that you'll see much more HP, but it helps not to bump off the limiter in 1st so easily. |

Mine was allowed to cool for about 45 mins.....and it was done at around 70 degrees.
Later at bike night (where the other pulls were done) was about the same temperature. It was 1 hour after bike night started but Im not sure if the bikes were cool or hot.

Lloydz shows a stock Vision at 83.5HP and 100.18TQ......and the curve looks like ass. Overall Im very happy and when you figure that was only $1500 spent that helps. Alot of people out there spending far more money for less outcome. Plus now I can wear my Lloydz tshirt without feeling like a poser....lol.

Yeah I hear ya there......it takes nothing to tap the limiter in 1st gear.....you dont even realize your doing it. The motor feels like it revs so much quicker.
I would do the custom ECM in a heartbeat.....but I dont want my bike down at all so Im gonna hafta pass.
I really like the "on device" adjust-ability of the VFC vs the custom tables required for the Power Commander or Id of definitely went PC-V.
I aint drag racing or anything so Im happy with what I got.....you REALLY notice the difference when you snap the throttle to pass a car......bam, the power is RIGHT there. Im assuming that more a function of the nice flat curve then the overall numbers. The power is there in any gear. |

Posts: 2300 Georgia, west of Atlanta | It is funny to watch peoples reaction to thier dyno readout numbers, most are pissed and or disappointed. Goes for all brands alot of 600 riders think they have 120 HP actually they barely break 100. Alot of HD riders think they have 100 HP and they usually end up with 75-85 with warmed over bikes. Busa dudes think they have 200 HP and usually get readings around 165-170. AND so the story goes...........That new ZX14 1441cc engine does make 190+ RWHP stock......... |
