Cornwall England | Hi guys Just fitted some white LED running lights to my front forks, I used industrial velcro which is hidden by the chrome LED light housing. I used the plug that is under the front valance protecting the fuse boxes and windshield mechanism. I found out after firtting the lights that power is only supplied to that plug when the windshield is lifted from its lowest point. Also when I turn off the ignition now the windshield auto stows to its lowest point. (handy for putting the cover over the bike) Anyway thought I would share here are a couple of pictures 
The pictures really dont show how bright the LED's are, my fellow riders and the boxes out there will find out on my next rideout Cheers Steve

Cornwall England | Now don't forget I have a UK or USA export bike which may have a slightly different wiring set up. I know the rear wiring loom is different as there are no center bake lights. I removed the valance that is in front of the wind-shield (bronze colour on my bike) smack in the middle by the wind-shield hinge was a large plug with a small 2 pin socket with Black/Red and Black/some other colour wire connected to it. I tested this and found it was live on the ignition key. I tested the lights would work and wired them all in. Then found it did not work (i had lowered the wind-shield all the way down) By trial and error I realised that the power was cut off to the plug when the wind-shield was all the way down. But as soon as the wind-shield was raised (even a 1/2 inch) the power was restored to the plug and the running light LED's came on. I also found out that when I turned off the ignition the wind-shield now self stows to the lowest setting and the LED's go out. Hope that makes sense Steve |

Pittsburgh, PA | the reason i asked was i saw a HD with this new led Ring that goes around their headlight.. its made to look like the Audi's and what not. but when the headlight is Turned on you cant even use the Led ring due to the headlight being so bright it completely drowns the leds out. the only way i was able to notice it when was we were both at a red light and even then i was barely able to see it. at least yours it not right next to the headlight unlike the HD ring..

Cornwall England | Each to there own thats wjhat making a bike individual is all about. Any thing I can do to attact attention so people (Cars) can see me has got to be worth it Try jumping the plug that I used it may work the same, you just wont be powering lights Good luck Steve |

Orlando, FL | Steve, pulled my valance and discovered three plugs to the right of the windshield motor. I have an 8 Ball so no factory radio etc. There is a white small plug on the lower left, a blue plug on the lower right, and a yellow plug on the middle right. Do any of those look like the one you used?

Cornwall England | George I used the small two pronged white plug that you indicated in the bottom left. You only get power if the wind-shield is above the lowest stowage (about 1/2 inch above the lowest point) the power is activated to the LED's. But if you are jumping the plug just for the auto stow of the wind-shield then that's the plug you need. I made the mistake of trying to see if the lights would work when the wind-shield was low, I then moved it up to get better access and the power was activated. Took a bit of working out to get there but it works and there is the auto lowering as a bonus. Steve

Green Bay, WI United States | Nice custom LED's. No electrical guy but the fact that the windshield lowers after the key is shut off would scare me, just sayin.....
And Thanks for the reminder about the miles of ditch....LOL :-)

Cornwall England | yea the ditches are not a nice place to end up. I checked on the current draw after the key was turned off and once the wind shield was stowed there was non so thats nothing to worry about - I had thought there might be constant draw as well. |
