Posts: 94 Las Vegas | I bought a set of bar ends. I think they look good in black. I haven't permanently put them on yet because I don't have the right screws. I partly put them on just to see what they look like and really like them.
Here is my question. When I had the stock bar ends off, I noticed they are about 4X heavier then the new ones. The new ones are aluminum. I'm not sure what the stock ones are made of. Are they heavy for a reason? Does it help stop vibration? I will try them out when I get the new screws but just thought I would ask here.

That's what I was thinking. Sucks, I will probably keep the stock ones. I will still try the new ones though. |

| The stock bar ends are stainless steal. Yes they might take a way some vibration but you'll never know till you try. |

| I saw those on Ebay but looked at my bar ends and they didnt look like they fit. Are they held on by a single bolt in the center or what? I also put in Vision on the auction page and it said they didnt work. If you can, send me a link for your auction. If you say they fit, then I will get a set.
Thanks a lot!

You have to mod them. I ordered new screws from the dealer yesterday. I will post how I did it after I get the screws. |

| Pull your stock bar end you'll see there pretty much flat. So you want ones that are flat not the ones that go inside the bars.
By the way hardware store you can get 3 for a buck. Screw the over priced dealer an why weight a week or two. |

| DetroitDetomaso - 2012-08-12 10:58 PM Stopped at the dealer Friday. My screws are not in yet. Screw the dealer let him have your dollar and go to the hardware store. Why do guys think you can only get bolts and bulbs at the dealer. We buy oil filters at a auto store look at hardware stores Lowell's fleet farm. Think out side the box guys. |

| Yes they are weighted to reduce vibration, and you might not see a difference on short rides. You might notice it more on longer rides, but it really depends on the rpm/speed you run, you may or may not see any change.
If you do, you could modify the new ends you have.
You could drill out some holes on the grip side and fill the holes with lead (rods, solder, shotgun shot, or bullet reloads) to give the ends more weight. You could also do the old school trick, push a plug into the handle bar, and stuff the handle bar ends with BBs. |
