| A friend of mine was making belt buckles from the punch slugs where I worked. He showed me one that had two eyes, a smile, a dorsal fin and a tail. He asked me what I thought it was. He said it was a chesshire tuna(Alice in Wonderland..chesshire cat) It struck me as funny and I told him when I started my own company ,that is what I would call it. It was 20 years later but I have a custom fab. shop with that name and I use it as my screen name. |

Posts: 785 Mt. I also go by RAVEN @ times, it's my totem (DONTRACY will understand) and fits me as I am a prankster and love to deliver a good tweek to some pompous fool. |

Doesn't help that that's pretty much the only two things that rhyme with Alexi. |

| Got it 20 years ago. Back in '92 I started hanging around a local CB group, back then just about every town still had those few that talked on and used CBs because that was just before small handheld cell phones came out, and due to business and my own personal travels I used to average 50K to 60K miles a year on my truck. The group I belonged to had a rule that you had to be given your handle and when everyone saw how I traveled so much they figured Travelin' Man would be the perfect handle for me. I use it on every forum I am a member of............

It was originally PhantomXtreme, but that is much to long and shortened it to PhantomX. I'm a big first person shooter gamer (think back to Doom and Duke Nuke'm days) and some of the first mainstream online multiplayer games like Quake, Unreal Tournament, etc I was like a Phantom and i'm a pretty extreme player. Back when I was younger I pulled my fair share of all nighters gaming...

Posts: 457 Green Bay, WI United States | You all are a bunch of funny folks LOL. Different names for different reasons.... I moved from Tucson, AZ to Stoughton, WI. and was called a Wildman ( I was) at 17. One guy chimed in and added "The only one of it's kind in captivity, thank God".The name stuck and the 8-ball had to do with the fact that I was a pen stroke away from buying an 8-ball Vision. To go one step more my 08 Vision is "Twister" named after a Super Modified driver named Hank Arnold who raced a Chevy motor that turned backwards (Visionary) around AZ in the early 60's. God Bless him and Mac Mills who had something to do with the car at different times. Hot Rod has a Lloydz fuel contoller, K&N air cleaner w/ holes in the cover along with Custom by Wildman exhaust. Not much for crosswalk to crosswalk but throttle roll-ons on the freeway or open road are a trip.

Posts: 619 Southeast Iowa | I bought my second V92 in 2003 and put in the 100" Big Bore kit which made it a "Big Vic" I bought personalized plates for our bikes taking BIG VIC for myself and the wife picked VICHICK. In 2005 I bought a TC and once again put in the 100 CI kit. When I bought the Vision in 2007 it had a 106" motor which was bigger than my 100" motor so BIG VIC was still appropriate. By now I'm just attached to the name and it rides on my 2012 CCT for that reason. Most strangers I meet think my name is Vic because I'm 6"8" tall and 295 lbs. So when they read BIG VIC on my plate they natrually assume I must be Vic. |

Posts: 45 Jax, FL | Many years ago (31) I spent several hours untangling and dragging an old but serviceable moto-guzzi out of a dumpster that the Italian air force put it in as scrap. took me a month to get it running. After I retired from the USN in '01 I went to work repairing trash compactors and the name came back to haunt me.

Posts: 341 West Salem, WI United States | smadge - 2013-02-10 9:42 AM Not many military names here but, I had 31 years 1 month and 18 days in uniform and would do it all again if I could. My troops and staff fondly addressed me as Smadge as a short for Sergeant Major. I like to think that all 1,000 troops at least had respect for me. Most at least acted as if they liked me . My focus was always for what was better for the troops and the mission. Thus , my web name , Smadge. Thank you for your service Smage!

Posts: 691 Manchester, CT | I wanted something that captured what it meant to convey the new found freedom after battling a baffling disease. To me, what the closest thing is to be able to soar without flying. To give thanks and to recognize those that have served and are serving our country. What better symbol than our National Treasure, the Eagle. Soaring without flying is the freedom that those of us who ride understand its meaning.

Posts: 71 B'ham, Al. | About 1986-87 I was riding my V65 Honda Sabre from Bham to Chattanooga to see a sweet little thing for the w/e. As I entered the Great State of Tenn. I cruised past a TN cop with a radar gun. He said "What the Hell is that thing you're riding, a Roadrocket?". Said I was doing well over 110. Didn't go to jail but did pay a $300+ ticket and that was a LOT of money back then. Insurance dang near doubled, etc. But you know what, it was worth it ! |

Posts: 38 LaFayette, GA United States | I discovered a number of years ago that if a cage is following you too closely, you can "Zig-Zag" your bike quickly a few times, and usually they will back off. You do have to be careful and not get too extreme with it though. My theory is that the cage driver thinks you're having some kind of emergency and backs off. Later, I joined a riding club and they saw me do this on a few occasions and gave me the name. Thats the official version anyway. It's also on my tag.
