Did a search and couldn't find any article on making both front lights on each side into turn signals. Has anyone tried it? Looking at the wiring, looks like it would be an easy project. I figure all I would need is another connector such as the one on the ends with 3 wires and change the inner ones out and hook up the third wire to the other light on the turn signal side. Already have turn signal style 3157 LED bulbs in mine so it should be easy. Now to find where I can get the other connector. Any ideas anyone?

If you figure it out, let me know. I thought about doing it also but couldn't find the right connectors.

Nozzledog, just found the right connector. It is an ACDelco PT1281. Now to order a couple and try it out.

Amazon has the connectors, but not at the cheapest price. They are about $20 a piece. Ordered 2 so I'll let you know when I get them and install them and see how it turns out.

why not just run a jumper wire

To what? There is no 3rd wire on the inner lights to jump it to.

johnnyvision, you have to either get a connector that has the third wire or get the third pin to go into the present connector on the inner light for the turn signal part of that bulb to work. Then you can make a jumper to the outer light. I couldn't find just the pin part so I've ordered the connector which is an AC/Delco PT1281 female connector. I may just pull the pin from one of these and put it in the present connector and then jumper it rather than replace the whole connector.

I was thinking you could run the jumper wire fron the turn signal wire to the hot wire on the running light.
If not I see auto parts store sell scokets cheap http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_...

The "hot" on the parking light side is only 7watts where the actual turn signal is 27 watts. If you look at the bulb, you will the difference in the elements. I thought about getting another socket but that would defeat my purpose as the socket does have the three prongs but the connector that hooks to it does not hence having to buy the new connector.

johnnvvision,
The inner running lights only have 2 wires running to them- 'hot' and 'ground'. to piggyback onto the 'hot would be useless, since it is always hot anyway. What you need to do is get power to the second element in the light bulb. The socket is already wired for it, but the socket connector is not. The only options are to replace the 2 wire OEM connector with a 3 wire connector(as mentioned above), or figure out a way to add a 3rd wire into the OEM connector. It looks like the OEM can handle a 3rd wire. All that is needed is the correct wire pins so that it would snap into the connector.

Nozzledog, Amazon backordered the connectors on me so I cancelled them, but I did find a place to get the single pin to fit our connectors. They actually only cost 25 cents a piece. Minimum order was 10, so I now will have extras. They should be in first of next week. If you would like a couple of them, let me know and I'll send you some or I can give you the website of where I got them.

Both lights on each side flash together now. I had the old rear wiring harness leftover after installing the sequential rear turn/brake mod, so I pulled 2 contact pins with a short section of wire attached from the old harness and inserted them into the unused location on the front inner running light, ran the wire to the outer active front turn signal wire and spliced. To disassemble the contact pin and wire from a leftover harness, first remove the plastic "clamp" from the back of the connector, then you insert a very small object like a piece of 14 gauge or 16 gauge wire into the appropriate very small notch on the front mating face of the connector to release the contact pin, which pulls out the back. Pull "clamp" from the inner bulb connector, then pull the rubber dummy plug from the unused inner bulb connector and insert the new pin and wire. I had this stuff on hand so it was easier to do it this way for me; but quite frankly I would recommend going the auto parts store as a previous poster has mentioned and buy the whole connector if at all unsure about what to do. Just be careful to hook up the wires the same way as original with the exception of course being the new wire to activate the turn signal function on the inner bulb.

If you did this same conversion to the rear bulbs......would all three bulbs then work as run/turn/brake?

For the rear you would have to have some sort of circuitry to override the brake light when the blinkers come on. The Fronts are easy, since there are no brake lights to deal with.

So, you now have 4 front marker lights and 4 front turn signal lights? Cool. I may have to try this over the winter. BTW, a straightened paper clip works well when removing the pins from the connectors. If you have a set of jewelers screwdrivers, they work well, too, and most sets have one that's just a round, blank end. (Hell, it's probably meant to unhook those pins.)

I want sequential lights in the worse but have no money. So it came to me today I saw two cop cars with all there lights on and though there must be a shop in town that would sell the module that would give me the sequential lights.
Now my journey begins.

Super simple wiring job. Almost as easy as piggybacking a load equalizer (heat sinked resistor) in. It works great with the white LEDs that turn amber when turning. I also found that if you remove the bolt that connects the turn lens to the headlight, it's easier to fit a longer LED bulb into the inner location.

pay no attention to the flashing Clearwater lights in the bottom video, that is just a frame rate sync issue.

Upgrade looks great. How much brighter are the LEDs than stock? Any difference in the angle (projection) or the distance that they go out? Basically, is this a useful upgrade for night riding or was this done to simply get the dual blinker affect? If that much brighter, seems one would get "flashed" by oncoming traffic even more and I get it alot as of right now with stock setup.

Also, seems that there is a slight "delay" going from the blinker stage back to the headlight where nothing is on. It could be the video making it seem longer than it actually is, but I'd think the second where you only have 1/2 your lights could be problematic.

Lastly, where did you the get new Vic emblem that is on your windshield???

They are a little brighter than stock, but is very diffuse and not blinding to oncoming traffic. I went with the LED switchbacks because I wanted the lights to be white but still blink amber. They come in two different versions. The ones like I have, and ones that alternate white/amber with no off time between. I liked that the white was suspended during the blinking because it makes a much bigger change in intensity, not just a color change. The pause between going from blinker mode to the whites coming back on is a shorter duration then the pause between amber blinks, but if you cut the blinkers right before it was about to blink again, you've just added the two pauses together and it's longer. If you catch it right after a blink, then the transition time is shorter.

The sticker on the front I made myself.

I will be doing a tech reference on this soon (with pics). Just need to find the source for the connector terminals.
I think its as worthwile a mod as the middle rear brakelight mod is. Makes the bike much more noticeable from the front when turning.
