Posts: 466 Grand Cane, LA | I read several articles on here about the intake runner separating the rubber from the aluminum spacer. Does anyone know if Victory will cover the repair under warranty or not? I believe mine came loose today while out riding. Everything was fine when I left the house this morning but when I stopped around lunch time I noticed that it was idling around 1200 rpms and wouldn't go any lower till after I had been back out on the road for a while. It also started "coughing" a few times when I lugged it down in slow traffic. I can do the repair myself but if this is a problem that has been happening to all the '08s then I would think they would cover it. |

| atvtinker, this has happened to me, and here is my write-up in the tech section of this forum on how to change it out. It will help if you have a friend to put it back together. If you need to talk to me about it PM me. The cost for the new part is about $65 and comes with a new number the old one is discontinued. Dain

Posts: 466 Grand Cane, LA | Dain, I could do it myself easily as I work on motorcycles and atvs as a hobby. Just curious if Victory was covering this under warranty. Would like to see if they are keeping track of the problem. Thanks for posting the part number and the write up. If they are not covering it, then I guess I'm going to do it myself. Haven't called the dealer yet about it.
Johnnyvision: I don't think there is any quick fix for this as it has to do with the vulcanizing process they used to secure the aluminum spacer to the rubber intake tubes. Now you might could try to put some black rtv between the pieces and maybe get it to seal off good, but you would still have to take it apart to do that. You might as well replace it with a new piece once you get that far.
Thanks for the replies guys! |
