Posts: 1117 Northeast Ohio | Bushtec costs another $200 more than the HitchDoc. $500 vs $300. I just put a HitchDoc on my 2011 because it is easier to install than the Bushtec. The Bushtec has more points of anchoring / mounting to the bike than the HitchDoc, but there haven't been any known complaints of strength or problems with the HitchDoc that I can find. The HitchDoc primarily uses the 4 trunk bolt holes to secure the main assembly and is further strengthened by side braces that attach to the frame and mufflers at the rear. It is a beefy unit.
Here is a pic of the Bushtec parts to better understand:
And the HitchDoc: http://www.vision-riders.com/bb/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=2889&Dis...
My Aluma MCTXL is sitting on the trucking dock as I type this and will soon be able to test the HitchDoc in the real world (in the next 48 hours). |
