Posts: 752 Broken Arrow, OK | Not sure how much longer I can stand this Vision and it's limited packing space.
This is all the clothing my wife was able to cram in the bike on our recent trip.
This doesn't include EVERYTHING else she packed, shoes, makeup and accessories, laptop, etc etc, just clothes. How can we possibly continue to ride such a beast with minimal storage????

She amazes me with her packing ability. I saw that pile and couldn't believe we carried that many clothes. Awesome |

Posts: 1117 Northeast Ohio | Like varyder said, buy a trailer. I don't want to run the trunk rack, so I recently bought an Aluma MCTXL trailer from Leonard at Thomas American. My wife would want to bring multiple casual shoes and two sets of clothes for every day. I found that our weekend trips were often spent in the car versus the bike. Those days are over.
$1,753 out the door for the trailer, $298 for the HitchDoc hitch and $50 for the isolator = 17.5cu/ft of additional storage.
For those that ask, the center caps for the trailer were in the trailer.

Posts: 1308 Sand Rock, AL United States | we were in a hurry packing for our Labor Day weekend getaway. I packed everything in one saddlebag for me. She took up the other saddlebag, the trunk and the luggage rack mounted barrel bag! I did not supervise my wifes packing and she tried to take everything but the sink. I will teach her how to bike pack before next trip. She was accustomed to packing the saddle bags on ol' Blue (off a Valkyrie tourer)which are huge compared to the Vision. She packed a full sized hair dryer ( couple we rode with brought one and their was one at the cabin) and a full size hot air brush, several bottles of lotion, perfume, etc. A full size bottle of mouthwash . Her packing will have to be inspected and approved by me before the next trip |

I was being sarcastic with my post. You guys crack me up.
We hear so many times how someone "almost" bought a Vision but the saddlebags were too small.
We've never had a problem carrying WAY too much crap when we travel. |

Posts: 1308 Sand Rock, AL United States | I took your post the way you intended it. You can do a lot more with the Vision than people think but I do plan on purchasing a timeout camper trailer next year , Lord willing. We love the fiscally sound concept of camping . It allows us to travel more. I used to think I could camp 2-up for a week but after this weekend, I don't think I can manage a 2 up , week long camping trip without a trailer. I know someone here may chime in and say they can. I'm just not sure I can do it without a trailer.once you throw in camping gear. I traveled in temps from 46-105 on my west trip, rain and shine. The gear I needed times two would be too much. Plus the timeout is quick , easy set up

Posts: 83 Springfield Mo. | Everytime we go somewhere, people are amazed at how much crap we pull out of the bike. I bought the saddlebag liners and they are useless. If you fill them half full, you can't get them in the saddlebag. We bought some soft sided cotton bags like you would use for groceries and fill them about half full and roll them up. you can usuall get 2 or 3 of them in each side. Works much better. |

It's not so much to leave stuff at home, as it is to leave those things behind that bring to much stuff, or get them their own bike... |

I had to laugh the first time my wife asked me to pick up some take out on my way home from work. I took those little styrofoam boxes and they sit perfectly in the left bag, when I closed the lid I couldn't believe it. |

I have the bags and Love them! Gives a good idea of how much to pack so you don't overload the weight restrictions, and quickly pulls out of the saddlebags to get into the hotel at night.

I agree. We pack pretty full and can last indefinitely on the road as long as there are Laundromats and hotels. Trying to add a tent, two sleeping bags, camp chairs, lantern, bug spray, toiletries, etc etc would be impossible. Perhaps for overnight or a two day trip, but any longer - No Way.
MAYBE with the trunk rack. Or a hitch mounted cargo holder.

Posts: 482 Beer Collins, Colorado (there is no fort) | When we tour our goal is to leave all the clutter behind and get down to the essentials- travelin' light & fast-I'll by a convertible before I pull a trailer on a motorcycle. My co-pilot/navigator has her side and I have mine with the top trunk shared space for coats & stuff. We do use compression bags-it's amazing how much you can jam in one and squash it down to a size that will fit in a vision bag. I'll take my crappy shirts/underwear/socks & trash 'em along the way lightening the load as we go & then by souvenir shirts along the way. We both have LD gear http://www.ldcomfort.com/ that can be hand washed in a hotel sink and be dry in the morning that conserves a lot of space- also check out microfiber shirts & pants, I have a pair of pants with zip off bottoms, instant shorts, that packs 1/3 the space of a pair of jeans-no problem doin' two weeks on the road.

| F that trailer business. I'm not putting my machine on a trailer and I'm not pulling a trailer.
They make these things called washing machines and if you wash your clothes every few days you don't need to carry a lot of crap. |

Posts: 259 Land O Lakes, FL | I've been able to easily pack for myself, haven't taken the wife on a long trip yet but I feel we have plenty of room, it's not as much as our old Goldwing but it will do. I keep debating the trunk rack and bag option because it really helps but we'll see. For me though I have plenty of room to pack for a week long trip with some to spare. |

Last trip with wife was 12,000 miles...this is all i needed.
It's equiped with a stand under the trailer. So on prolong stay in hotels, just pull her in hotel room and leave it there..
Don't have to pull it while you tour the neighborhood.. ;o) |

Posts: 1308 Sand Rock, AL United States | I've pulled a trailer with my V92 many a mile. I love it and I love to camp because it's cheap. As soon as I can afford the hitch for the Vision , I will get a camper trailer. Many times, the money saved camping over hotel rooms for us is the difference in going and staying home. Average motel room is $89, cheap is $69 probably. Camping is $15-$25 a night. I just can't get a weeks worth of stuff for two and camping gear on the bike even if I oversee the wife's packing ( and I am very efficient at packing). And if I can't afford motel rooms all the time , I also can't afford to buy new clothes along the way, for instance, I didn't even spring for a Sturgis shirt this time. I ate can soup that I brought from home the whole trip ,6 days 4,877.7 miles, 16 states. That whole trip cost around $570 (almost all gas) and I had the time of my life. If I'd moteled it, it would have broke the bank. My ENTIRE lodging expense for 6 days , almost 5000 miles was $85! But I may post about my trip later. besides the I don't really have cloths I would throw away either. ALL my t shirts are almost sacred to me. If there is one thing I don't want to do on a bike trip, it's spend time washing my clothes. As you can tell, I didn't have time |

Posts: 457 Green Bay, WI United States | My Lady suggested a trailer?????? My reply, why so you can pack more shit...... Putting her thru a re-training program right now. I need to give credit where credit is due, she and I went up to Washburn last Sunday and coming home I was passed by a "crotch rocket" and had a moment of opportunity to pass them and two other cars turning right. Well, the throttle rolled on and at 95 MPH we were clear of all of them. "Rocket" followed and fell into pattern and we were good until I needed to fuel up in Fifield. Lady never said a word so I think she is good to go with me, I kinda liked it, haulin ass in the North woods sideways at any speed:-) Always stop to give a Brother or Sister of the Road a Hand if they are broke down, we are all we have......... |

Only question I have is would you have to use truck tires on the Vision for that setup??
