UPS man just dropped off my new rear tire-a nice fresh (Mfg April of 2012) 160/80-16 80HR. I know the Dunlop E3's were the only game in town for a while but now there's another one with an 80 load rating for us in the light. Gonna mount it tomorrow and zap it with 11oz of Ride-On and see how it compares. I have Venoms on my 99V92C and love 'em. Here's a pic of my third E3-not much on the left side and I want something I can count on when the weather goes to hell like it probably will when I go on tour next week.

I put one on in Sturgis, and LOVE it. Grips better in the corners, I think. 2,000 miles and still looks new. We will see. The rep told me to run 42 Lbs. They run cooler, and keep there shape better, he said.

I have run one rear tire on my Vision and got right at 9,000 hard miles and twisties...Might have gotten 10K but was planning a trip and didn't want to risk it going 600 miles one way...The Avons are WONDERFUL tires!!!

Just put one on the rear and have a front one being delivered Monday. Love the rear and I think the front will be that much better. My left side did the same.

How do you wear a tire that bad on one side like that? Are you sure you are getting the back tire lined up right? Or do the roads you ride on have that bad of a crown in them? Just asking.

I can only speak for myself but the back roads I ride have severe crowns. Every bike I've owned has worn the left side, not as bad as his though.

Can you confirm this ia the Cobra AV72? According to their website, it is still has a 74 load rating. I would love to have another option and hope their website is out of date.

Any chance you can post a pic of the sidewall?

That does make a certain amount of sense but I still feel like the crown of the road comes into play.

Me too. I originally found this article when I was looking up scalloping / cupping issues.

I got 27K on two rear E 3s pretty evenly broken down on each one. While I think the E 3's are better than the Dunlops on my TC(I now run Metzlers on it), they still make me a little squeamish when it rains. How are the Avons on wet pavement?

Cobra's mounted, juiced with RideOn and test ridden-everything seems very smooth-it definitely has an 80 load rating, $196 from Jake Wilson

I have ride on in my tires and when the time comes I'm going to drill holes in the tire to see if and how good the ride on seals.

The only way to get mileage out of a tire is check it once to twice a month. Use a good gauge not a pencil thing
