Posts: 277 Apopka, FL | I need to tighten my header bolts because I figure they are sucking a little air. I get a little popping since my NASCAR6 pipes.
My question is, is it better to tighten them when they are cold or hot? My guess is cold because they would swell when hot. Someone who is 'wrench smarter than I' please advise.

Posts: 482 Beer Collins, Colorado (there is no fort) | I've found loose header bolts when goin' over bikes (especially at 500 & 3,000 miles) and they've needed a couple of tweaks before they settle in & stay snug/tight-between the heat & cold cycles + vibration they should be checked along with all the exhaust fasteners & I'd agree cold is the best time for checkin'. |
