Just a reminder about the 4-legged devils are out.  I'll post pictures later, but on the way home a coworker, in his car, struck a deer on I-95.  I was about a mile behind him, I guess, when the traffic snarled.  As I crest the hill in the line of cars in the hammer lane, I see a car on the median shoulder next to the jersey wall, and a deer about 20 feet behind the car.  I see the man get and recognize him to be my coworker.  I was stopping anyways, because at the same time I see a pickup on the outside shoulder come across and start talking to him to see if he's okay.  He was driving a Maxima, and the whole windshield was concaved where the deer hit and his roof push back some and the sun roof gone.  He was okay except from the glass cuts, but he explained the deer came across from the opposite side, leaped the jersey wall directly in front of him, and the rest was history.  I'll post pictures later.  The fact there have been a lot of motorcycles out lately, to include one about 5 cars in front of me who stopped also, it could have been anyone of us instead.  Like I told my friend/coworker, "I'm glad it was you and not me."  He said, "I know, this is just a car, but had been, it would have been you!" pointing at me.

If they'll break across the interstate during rush hour, they'll be anywhere, without notice.

Beware!

Deer are completely unpredicatable around roadways and very dangerous to motorcycles.
Please, ride safe.

Ive already hit one on my Vision this year.....so hopefully that puts me in the clear......Ive done my part.

I usually ride until late November, early December (depending on snow fall).....and I work the night shift.....so I ride to work in the dark.....and I ride home in the dark.

How Ive only hit 2 deers in 3 years is beyond me......the close calls are to numerous to count.

Im not sure if it honestly helps....or I just THINK it does.....but I have registered less "close calls" since adding lighting to the SIDE of my motorcycle with LEDs.

National Insurance Board says do not try to avoid deer cause there is more danger in on coming cages or in the ditch that has a long way down to the bottom.

With this dry warm weather you just know they will be on the move. On the news try have been telling of people seeing in there back yards in the inner city. So you never know.

Sounds to me like the deer herd needs to be thinned if they are being seen in people's back yards! Someone needs to extend hunting season!

I hit one last summer did not go down but the shop had the bike from July 30th to mid Oct. Over $6,000.00 in damage.

I was lucky only a banged up left leg.

I had one take me down on 7/7/07. I was traveling about 35 MPH and it came out of someone's front yard. Always my biggest fear. I went down, hit the pavement once and ended up rolling in the grass but narrowly missed his mailbox post which was a small telephone pole. I ride a Screamin Eagle Road King and as little damage as was done it still was approx. $6,000.00. This was at 8:00 PM and after a 200+ mile ride. I was lucky the big man upstairs was looking out for me.
