Posts: 63 Calgary, AB, | I'm reposting a copy of this that I'd ended up puttig in technical Q&A, with the hope more will see this, as i'm stuck on what to do going forward. Have an '08 Tour, bought used, no GPS manual. It's the one the has the Victory logo on startup, speaks through the speakers automatically etc. A big thick unit with a mounting braket on the center console panel. Anybody know what model number this is. I don't have satellite(I don't think, although the PO has a small aeriel/receiver ( I think it is) on top of the dash, wired down into the glovebox. I'm trying to determine if I can get map updates for this as it's 5 yrs old, but don't even know model number. Wonder if the Vic dealership locations are updated if I could find an update download from Garmin (or Victory?) Any other suggestions on a new type unit that would still run through the speakers, as i'd like to keep this feature if possible. Thks for any help/suggestions, I've tried searching but came up only with the above string, which I'm not sure applies to my unit.

Posts: 23 Philadelphia, PA United States | Should be the Garmin Street Pilot series 2820 if it has XM and Bluetooth.
If it doesnt have bluetooth it may be the street pilot 2730... either or, Garmin discontinued the street pilot series, but updates should be easlily obtained. I dont think it matters which one you have for the update either way. F updates are not cheap just go to garmins web site and connect device to your computer, it should pull model info from unit anyway from Garmins site.
Hope this helps.
Oh BTW new motorcycle gps replaced by the Garmin Zumo Series which Yes with proper plugs will have the same feature as your current GPS.

Posts: 50 Huntsville On Canada | I have the 2820 as well & recently updated my map (last month) with no problem. Still works fine. Knock on wood.
Did you get the AC & USB patch cords with it. You need both to complete an update.

Posts: 63 Calgary, AB, | Thahks all for the info. I THINK I've got the AC and computer USB cords, will have to check on that Appreciate the info becasue there is NO referrence to a Garmin model number on mine, just a serial number, which hopefully will be enought to get me onto the Garmin site assuming I've got the cords. It does NOT have XM to my knowledge, so I'm thinking its likely the 2720 model. |

Posts: 499 Chattanooga, TN | Along the lines of this thread, I have a 2820 which I installed. Works great with the power into the radio but it uses the Aux input so I can't connect any tunes, I can only listen to the radio. I also cannot hear turn by turn directions through the radio even if I am on AUX which was the input the iPod used. I downloaded some songs to the Garmin, but again even on AUX there is no sound, just static. Is there another cord I need for sound? Is there a way to also have my iPod/iPhone hooked up along with the Garmin to the radio?

| Baadawg, hope you get that figured out, seems you have put some time and money into your stereo system to be limited to only radio stations. Which mine doesn't pick up worth ahoot, except for the rap stations. What luck.... Been thinking about upgrading from my androids gps ,mounted on the handle bars ,to something more viewable and weather proof |
