Victory recalls 6,600 motorcycles to tighten some nuts

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Polaris is recalling more than 6,600 2012-13 Victory motorcycles so that dealers can correctly torque certain throttle cable retention nuts, the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration announced.

"A torqueing procedure may have been missed on some throttle cable retention nuts," according to the recall. "On certain motorcycles, the throttle cable cable retention nuts for either the pull or push throttle cable may not have been torqued correctly.

"If the torqueing is missed and the retention nuts are loose, the retention nuts closest to the throttle body can become dislodged and interfere with the throttle function, increasing the risk of a crash," NHTSA stated.

The 6,618 motorcycles named in the recall include:

2013 Boardwalks;
2012-13 Cross-Country, Cross Roads, Hammer, Hard-Ball, High-Ball, Jackpot, Judge, Vegas and Vision models; and
2012 Kingpins.

The recall campaign is expected to begin Oct. 12. Victory said it would notify owners; dealers will need to re-torque the fasteners free of ch

Good info... thanks for the heads up....

...but

I'd rather tighten them myself; then let a dealer touch it.
