| The bike was on the lift for it's annual check up and I noticed while taking it down there was a "clunk" as the play was taken up. After repeating it a few times it turned out to be the pin the suspension rocker is supported by. It's loose enough to cause about a quarter of an inch slop in the rear tire's travel, up and down. Of course it's sitting on it while the bikes at rest but I can't help but think this would, in time, wallow out the frame where it passes through. Anyone else came across this? My Vision 8-Ball only has 3,000 miles on it.

Central New York | My 08 has been like that since new. Dealer said it was normal and showed me a new 09 on the showroom floor that had same play. Got 16k now and wheel hasn't fallen off so I guess all is good. |

Central New York | No change. I first noticed it at about 2500 mi while doing an oil change. Put new tires on at 14k and the play was exactly the same. So, if the bike handles great, I can get 14k out of the tires, and it doesn't get worse, I good. |

Peru, IN | I understand there has to be a little bit of "play" so you can remove the pin but a 1/4" seems excessive. What I know about it is from WDs lowering link vid and the service manual but I'd think after time, it would tend to stress fracture (either the pin or the mounting hole) especially if you're on a lot of bumpy roads unloading the suspension. Maybe the suspension is designed well enough that it's rare that the suspension actually unloads all the way. |
