Hello all,
new to forums and just settling in with my new VV. What a ride! Kept my TC for the fun days but having a hard time NOT riding the Vision.

I have my parts coming in for the CB/INT modules and been reading up here.. Going to have order the drivers headset it appears. I kinda figured the connections would be in the KIT or the cable assemblys... But besides that, what I am after is mounting the antenna and CB module in such a way as I can still detach my trunk. Wondering if anyone has done that. Planning on using Firestik for the antenna and see the normal mount/model to put on the trunk but was REALLY wanting to stay flexible and should I pull the trunk maintain my CB capability.

Thoughts? Thanks in advance for the help, great forum here with PLENTY of reading!!!!!

Tim

I haven't seen a thread anywhere, where someone has went off the beaten path to do this. Others have asked, but all you hear are crickets. That being said, you could probably do it, but you will have to get creative with the installation and mount the passenger PTT, volume, headset jack and antenna somewhere else on the rear of the bike. I am attaching the instructions for the CB/Intercom kit, if you don't have them already. This may help you to understand how it was designed by Vic.

Good luck if you decide to take an alternative path, and please make sure you share your experience with the forum.

Please download these soon as I will be switching hosting providers in the next week or so.

Anything is possible, it just depends on what you are willing to give up and what you want to keep.

There are lot of nook and crannies in the Vision where things can be installed some protected from the elements some not. Electrical wiring doesn't scare me so I am willing to get into the nitty gritty of electrical systems and move stuff with in reason.

If you are willing to sacrifice some bag space, you can install the CB/INT unit in one of the bags. I would imagine you can rout the controls to the opposite side of the heated seat switches, but knobs in that location will be hard to turn with gloves on.

I installed an amp in my trunk, and even though I setup the wire harnes so I can still use the bike without a trunk and still listen to music (sans the amp), I really don't plan to ride without the trunk. I like my trunk, I put junk in it.

Good point about the bag, didn't think about that... Was just thinking under the seat, etc... As for adding a 2nd rider, I think I can simply canniblize my JM passenger connection and simply build me a conversion harness/adapter then use the JM PTT/Volume head set. Still looking at the wiring right now.. Thanks for the input! Tim

I have been working on a way to mount the C B and intercom stuff , as well as rear speakers, without a trunk, but the set up I am working on would not be a quick detach system, but it will be a luggage rack / backrest combo, that will allow for a different types and styles of back rest.

Would be curious to see JB, the only thing I am worried about at the moment is mounting the CB module and antennas in such a way that I can figure the rest out later. Momma don't ride in winter or low temps because of a surgery that heat gear don't solve so was wanting to try to keep it where I could loose the trunk if I wanted but still have CB/Intercome, etc... I think i got it figured out on the passenger connection using a pigtail from my TC. Deffinently interested in what you got. Keep the thread posted... Could be interesting!

Safe riding,

Tim

I tried doing this on my 08 and finally gave up. I installed it in the trunk, with a quick dissconnect I ordered from one of the electronic shops. Without the trunk there was only cb to me and no intercom. With the 12 I'm not going with the factory cb. I'm going with the new Scala G9, I've read a lot of good reviews.. With it she can sit back there and talk on the phone via bluetooth, listen to the stereo or whatever she wants and I can listen to the stereo and GPS.
