I'm planning on adding an LED lit license plate bracket to my Vision with a lay down plate holder. I obviously can't use the OEM plate light. I'm thinking of drilling a small hole in the OEM plate light cover, threading the LED wires into that hole then plugging them in to the 194 socket. I'm sure there is something that would plug into the socket that I could solder the LED wires to. This way, if I need to remove the plate cover, I can just unplug it instead of having to remove wires, etc.

I don't know what to search for.

I did this one after I cut my oem plate mount and made it a lay down mount https://www.denniskirk.com/custom-dynamics/chrome-led-license-plate-...

I've got one on order from Witchdoctor. Just trying to figure out a good way of plugging it in. What did you do to make your OEM plate holder into a lay down?

I have a lay down plate made by a member from here, for the life of me I can't remember but it is made out of stainless steel and came with a chrome lighted license plate trim ring and when I installed it I pulled the bulb out of the stock harness, used sealing tape to protect the socket, and spliced in a couple of fold over T taps (the kind that are a spade receptacle). Then I notched the stock light cover just enough for the led harness to fit through and used a small dab of rtv silicone sealant to seal the notch around the wiring. I haven't had a problem and I wash my Vision at one of those do it yourself car washes all the time.

I think I've found a solution (or 2). Either this ( http://www.ebay.com/itm/T10-2825-W5W-168-194-LED-Bulbs-Error-Free-A... ) and cut the plugs off (solder/heat shrink the LED wires in place) or this T10 wedge base ( http://www.autolumination.com/connectors.htm ). With the plastic (bare) wedge base, I'd drill a couple tiny holes on each side, thread the wires through then fill the base with silicone to keep it together and keep moisture out. I'll get another license plate light cover and drill a couple holes in that just big enough for the LED wires to run through. I can then paint that black and it won't be seen. It would take a few steps to remove the entire assy but it would be at least as waterproof as the OEM setup. Probably wouldn't take 20 minutes to make it all, too.

When I did mine (http://www.vision-riders.com/bb/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=10311&start=1&highlight=diy+laydown&highlightmode=1) I found that there was enough clearance between the clear lens and body that the small wires from the LED plate fit just fine without drilling.  Have fun!
