Posts: 537 , FL United States | If you want the scrolling features then you need to get something like the iod Nano. the plug for this feature is wider (I don't know if you need a reflash or a download of the radio maybe someone else could help). I needed to save space in that compartment due to phone, toll change, extra keys and the such. I choose the smaller ipod shuffle and it has a small jack that it plugs into. I keep it on shuffle and just listen to the music. With the Nano you will be able to scroll through your music. Hope this helps. |

Posts: 495 Carrollton, TX | The iPod Nano is the best way to go and it requires the iPod cable that Victory sells for $39.00. This cable plugs into the Nano and will give it power all the time as well as provide full integration with the bikes audio system. It will allow you to select up to 12 play lists from the selection buttons on the console, move forward or backward through the songs with the plus and minus control on the left handlebar, control the volume and mute the sound. The title of the song playing will display in the console display screen as well as the play list name when you first select it. This provides the highest quality sound for the Vision. I listen to the iPod 90% of the time while riding. |

| any updates on if the 3rd gen Ipod works on the Vision? My understanding is that the Nano and Gen two work great. |

Posts: 1324 So Cal | I have a gen 3 nano. Had problems at first, everything's been corrected. Just buy the ipod cable that comes through the glovebox (39.95)
Dont let them try and sell you the communication harness $90, you only need that one for XM, CB etc. |

Posts: 404 San Antonio, TX United States | cjnoho, i truly hope your dealer did not try and talk you into the audio harness. I am a tech and i just cant see the guys i work for trying to do something that dirty. I really like the dealership i work for. The owner, his wife and three of his four sons run the two stores here in the Hampton roads area. You are correct though in making sure that people realize the the audio harness is only for the CD player, CB/intercom and XM radio. You do not even need the harness for the GPS, that has its very own plug that connects it into your existing audio system. |

Posts: 377 O'Neill, Nebraska | I've been riding with my 30Gig Ipod Video and it froze up today. After 250 miles on the Vision this was the first time; however I have not installed the Ipod cable yet. This is just using the Aux plug. |

Posts: 550 Tacoma, WA | Yup!My 80 gig gave me fits, and i didn't wanna ruin it, so I got an 8 gig nano, and all has been mucho better. I also had a bad cord from the dealer, which they replaced at my last service. I will be needing my 10,000 mile service before the weekend's end!------Metalguy |

Anyway, I stumbled across something for you Ipod folks: http://www.otterbox.com/ipod-cases/ These are the neatest cases I have seen. I wish they made one for my Nokia E71. I'll just stick to the big, bulky Ram Aqua box. |

I bought the cable to add XM. I do remember an earlier post a while back, where someones dealer tried to sell the the harness and the ipod cable just to hook up the ipod. I dont think it was intentional, just lack of experience on a new model. Thats why I try to give everyone that asks a heads up. |

Posts: 377 O'Neill, Nebraska | This is good to know about the 30 gig vidoe iPods having a hard drive. I didn't know that! I'll give it another shot because I'm not sure it was the vibration or a poor MP3 that I downloaded to it. Once I reset the Ipod everything worked great.
Now that I finall own a Vision I now see what everyone is talking about. What an awesome bike! Any news about an upgraded radio antennae to help improve FM reception? |

| I don't know much about ipods, so it it sounds like gen two and gen three are ok to use. What's the difference between an ipod and and ipod nano? Do all gen threes have a hard drive? It sounds like an ipod with a hard drive is still ok to use |

Posts: 506 Woodland Hills, CA | Just be sure to get an iPod with a flash drive (found in the Nano and the Touch). The regular hard drives are much more susceptible to vibration and will likely be a problem. Also, keep in mind that Apple's specs list the operating temperatures for an iPod at between 32 and 95F. Where I ride (southern California) it can frequently get up well over 100F, and I'm sure much hotter in the storage compartment, especially after it has been sitting in the sun for a while.
Based on the many suggestions found on this site, I bought a Nano for my Vision (I just couldn'tt see spending the money for a Touch that would essentially reside full time on the bike). I initially had some of the same problems as many others have posted here, but as soon as my dealer installed the most recent download, my problems went away. Everything works, including the mute.
Just as metalguy and Spock, I use my iPod about 98% of the time, and its great. It did freeze once after being left in the heat all day, but it was the iPod, and not the Vision. I just reset the iPod and everything went back to working as it should.
Good luck. |

Posts: 1484 LaPorte,Tx. | I too use the iPod most of the time. The temp think is interesting. On the way back from Arkansas to Houston last weekend temps. were up to 105. The Nano was screwing up, couldn't control it, it would switch off the playlists. Also, last time at the dealer, he was suppose to put the latest flash on the radio, I'm saying suppose to, I can't believe in anything they do anymore. Anyway control is not better. Also, I posted this once before. On one of my playlists I have 500+ songs on the list and the Nano in shuffle, it only plays less than 20% of that total songs.
Other playlists are the small, but the % of songs played is the same. I have the Nano manual and going to read through it to see if I'm doing somthing wrong. |

Posts: 550 Tacoma, WA | Indyvision, let me give you some heads up on the iPods: the generation 3 iPods are the latest iteration, and nano, shuffle, classic, touch, iPhone are the different models of iPod out there. The nano comes in 4 and 8 gig capacity, and are non-hard drive models, as is the shuffle. The shuffle has no means for interface with the Vision, just a jack for headphones. The nano has the port for interface with the Vision, provided you have the $40 dollar cord Victory sells. I am NO expert on iPods, just found out through this site, and friends who are younger than me how SOME of this stuff works!! And just to clarify, the hard drive iPods will not work well with the vibration of the bike. -----Metalguy |
