NC | I just noticed today that my seat's vinyl is starting to stretch and rip at the stitching on the front seat at the rear corners. I looked on E-bay just to check prices of seats and seen another one that was ripped like mine is starting to do. Are any of you having this problem?
I've got a 2008 and about to turn 21K miles on it.
I'd love to know if there is anything that can be done to it to keep it from ripping further, it's not bad yet but it won't be long before it opens on up. |

Ruskin, Fl | That happened on my '08 too. A seat guy down here fixed it for $30. Removed the seat cover and stitched it. Put a second row of stitching in cause he said it was weak the way it was made. He has a big trailer. Did it while i waited. I don't know if be travels to events that far north. Sure there is somebody in your area.
His name is Master Lugo. Had a hole poked in the side of my 2013 seat. Fixed that mor me too.

NC | I'll have to check with him and see if he'll be at Myrtle Beach bike week in May. I have always thought the vinyl looked a bit thin and stretched in this location and apparently it is.
Sounds like a great price for what he did. I had a 4-wheeler seat recovered and I bought an already fitted cover for it and the upholstery guy I used charged me $35 just to staple on that fitted cover. He said it would be $25 when I dropped it off. I should have charged him for all the talking he did, took me an hour and half to drop off and about the same amount of time when I picked it up, thought I'd never get away from him LOL. |

| Mine did the same thing. I had the original recovered and bought a Ness seat too. Like the Ness so much I rarely use the stock seat anymore. |

| I have read about the sticking tearing out so now two three times a year I cover my stitching with some leather conditioner. I think it drys out and can just bet Vic will say sorry |

Bullhead City, AZ | My 08 tore layered shoe goo inside the tear smoothed it out and then let it cure. This mad a good seam but it looked like hell, After a day took black gasket maker and covered the Shoe Goo. The fix has held and it does not look to bad now. My ass cant see so it looks great when i'm riding. |

NC | Seems it's pretty common then. I see the way the seat is made in this spot that it really pulls on the stitched seam in this area especially when my big heavy self is sitting on it compressing the cushion and stretching the vinyl even more.
Mine hasn't ripped open yet but it will pretty soon, showing the first signs of the vinyl stretching around the thread holes. I'm thinking of letting it go ahead and rip as it may then having an overlapping strip maybe 3/4" to an inch stitched over top of the original stitching to cover the rip and leave it loose enough so that it won't pull on the new stitching like it did on the original. I was thinking of using a different color material to maybe give it a custom accent look, maybe silverish gray to match the rest of the trim on the bike.
Well first I need to locate a good upholsterer as I have no artistic ability myself for such craftsman work LOL.
Still interested if any others have done some type of unique repair for this problem, mainly looking to not spend too much but don't want it looking like poop either.

The picture of the guy on the website sure looks familiar so I've probably seen him at one of the Bike Rallies. I went to Daytona in 09 and 10 so it may have been there. I'll be going to Myrtle in May so it would be nice if I could catch him there, if he's still doing this type work. It's weird that his website is still up but there is no contact info on it that I see. |

Sand Rock, AL United States | My 99 seat has lasted. I got 14 years service out of it so far. 5 years out of my Vision seat and already coming apart. Its a design issue , a weak spot. |

elgin mn | I was told 08 seats were made in italy, was changed in 09. we all know why! talked with people from spirit lake and got no result, my 08 was at 15,000 miles when it started ripping out. I wouldnt count on any WARRENTY on a seat. |
