Posts: 4 Carlisle Ontario Canada | I have had several of my service trucks sprayed with the "Line-X" coating to protect them from scuffs & damage in the truck beds. The product has a durable textured surface with a little bit of glitter like fleck appearance.
I was quoted less than $200.00 to have about 12 pieces (ugly brushed aluminum) sandblasted, primed and coated. This would virtually "black-out" the bike with the exception of the rims, bars and pipes.
Looking to see if anyone has done, or considered doing this sort of finish to their bikes, and were you happy with the look afterwards?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Cheers, |

A good scuff with a red SCOTCHBRITE pad, and a wipe down with wax and oils prepaint cleaner should be all that's needed since the stuff just needs a litle 'tooth' to stick, you haven't had any of your truck beds sandblasted to coat them have you?
Talk to the guys @ the LINEX store about requirements. That would be an interesting contrast on the bike. |

I know LineX is a pretty thick product. It would definitely be unique. Don't forget to post pictures when you're done! |

| Heck have a body shop sand the panels and then get them power coated.
You really don't want that textured trunk paint next to the smooth paint. Wouldn't look right |

Any idea what powder coating costs? |

When they do a truck bed they adjust the gun to give a rough texture on the last pass. I have sprayed this stuff, it is hard to get a good finish, it want to puddle and distort under spraying pressures. The gun sprays 2 separate chemicals which mix and catalyze outside the gun nozzle... weird science. It is a great way to make your bike bomb-proof ! |

Posts: 4 Carlisle Ontario Canada | Thanks for all of the input....I wasn't sure if this was a good option or not....at this time I think I'll pass on doing it. Johnnyvision made a comment that the contrast of the 2 different textures side by side might look bad....I got this idea from looking at the bikes that have installed the Carbon Fiber film in basically the same areas. They too are very different surfaces and look pretty good together. I'm also wondering if it might be a real problem getting the bugs cleaned off of this rough surface???
You have all contributed to me reconsidering this option....which is one of the great things about our group and this forum!
THanks again. |

I often thought about spraying a whole car or truck before. No maintenance once it is on, you only have to wash it once in a while! Plus it would not scratch and it would resist dents. |
