So I'm am right at 11K on my bike. About a month ago I started hearing a squealing noise from the motor. It sounded just like a bad belt on a V8. Kinda had me baffled cause it went away after the bike was hot. It turns out both battery terminals were loose and the charging system wasn't happy.
I tightened them. It lasted less than a week and the noise was back.
When I retightened I realized the battery itself was loose. You could move it in the bracket causing a squeak also.
I assumed the loose battery was cause the cables to loosen. I put a piece if rubber between the battery and the bracket and retightened the terminals with split lock washers.
Loose again a couple of days later. Since then I switched to external tooth lock washers and than blue lock tight.
FN thing keeps coming loose. I even tightened to the point of starting to twist the term on the battery.
I'm going to the dealer Wednesday, but was wondering if anyone had a similar issue.

Sorry for typos. Using smartphone.

Thank you. I tried those the split lock washer and before the Loc-tight.
I thing it's loose tolerances between the nut and bolt on the battery.

The setup is simple. If you are having a problem with a loose terminal, replace the battery, if it's just the hardware, bolt, nut, and washer, replace those for around a dollar.

Thanks Varyder. I'm gonna let the dealer mess with it. Also have the squeak from battery movement.
I'll let you know what happens Wednesday.

Don't seem to me like the battery should be moving & that's what is causing the cables to come loose! I'd have to look up what it is that holds it. Maybe some one that just replaced a battery will remember
