| Hoping someone can help provide some insight. After installing Lloydz high performance TOP air filter, I get a "drum" noise, from top of engine, only when I run through the gears. Only in the 2500-3000 rpm range, through all the gears. However, when the bike is in neutral, this noise is not heard throughout the entire RPM range. Took it to the dealer, and th dealer owner, who has a similar set up as mine, said this was normal when the plate is removed and the top filter installed. He said the filter allows engine noise, otherwise blocked by the plate. I believed him but now I ask myself why is there noise when in gear, but no noise when in neutral?
Bike specs:
2011 Vision tour
5000 Miles
D&D Slip ons
PCV - from fuel Moto w/ fuel Moto map
AUTOTUNE
Front Victory high performance filter
Top Lloydz High performance filter
Any help would greatly appreciated.
Thx

I gained considerable sound when the top filter was installed, to the point I considered removing it. Guess I'm used to it now. |

| @ okie vision: So, you also experienced the "Drum" noise in this RPM range? I was expecting the increase of air noise with this mod, but not the drum noise. So, the drum noise is in fact normal with this top filter mod?
Thanks for your feedback. |

It reminds me of the sound of a 1950's-1970's big block V8 with a big 4 barrel carburetor and the air cleaner lid turned over to allow the engine to breath better. It's the sound of a powerful motor sucking in the air. In certain RPM ranges you get a harmonic effect that you are calling "drumming". It's normal. I like it.

Yes, and like Ronnie and Pete say, you'll get used to it. I like it now too and don't really even notice it as not being "normal" anymore. |
