Bob did you install the hitch yourself or did you have it installed for you? How do you find it pulling a trailer with the Vision? I pulled a Bushtec Trailer behind my Kawasaki Nomad and found that it had little effect on the motorcycle. I will most likely get my dealer to install the Bushtec Trailer hitch this winter as I don't need to use the trailer this summer plus labour is half price in the winter. I know, I know Life is Hard! |

Cumming, GA | I had the hitch installed by Sloan's in Murfreesboro, TN. They are a Victory and a Bushtec dealer. It took their mechanic 7 hours to install it since he had to remove the entire rear end to get to the frame. I wouldn't even attempt it myself. It was hard enough justing getting the silver trim off to have powder coated, much less all the plastic in the rear, not to mention the wiring.
As far as the ride goes.... I could not tell that I was pulling the trailer and it had very little effect on the instant gas mileage reading. I am very pleased with the handling and like Len said, we are going to put it to the test starting on 8/11 when we head to the AVR and points west. |

Cumming, GA | Bearcat, I made a mount that is attached to the licenses plate. It was pretty simple. I bought 2 - 4' pieces of 1/8" x 1/2" flat bar from Home Depot, bent it to the shape of the trunk and drilled holes to match the ones in the licenses plate holder.
I welded the corners for stability.

I have toyed with the Bushtec hitch idea, as we have a Turbo+ II Bushtec,
but with the Goldwing already hitched, I can't justify the cost of it right now.
It is a damn shame too, because we have 3 three day week-end trips already
booked this Fall for the Smokies & Myrtle Beach, and we can't take the Vision
to any because of storage. )o:

My wife and I take 3 and 4 day jaunts and we pack everything we need in the two saddlebags. We just use the trunk for our jackets and whatever junk we buy to bring back. Are y'all taking tents and sleeping bags? We use motels, so maybe that's it. |

It is what you are bringing back. We love vendors at rallies. Just brought back
12 quarts of oil for the Kawasaki from the WindDing rally in Greenville July 4th.
I only do Hotels, no camping. Just 1 pair of socks & underwear per day gone. One extra
pair of jeans. Pair of tennis shoes if wearing a boots. Some shorts for lounging at the Hotel.
Camera & battery charger. I just maxed out the Visions saddlebags there.
Rain gear alone will fill up the right side on the Vision.
The Vision was designed for Comfort & looks by persons that don't grocery shop on a motorcycle.
Storage is just as importmant as comfort on a tourer. And looks aren't as important as storage &
a stock intercom system & stereo, but this is just my opinion. The wife loves the looks of the
Vision, and that is why there is one in our garage.  |

Cumming, GA | Rebel, my trip which commences on 8/11 and will be approximately 1 1/2 months and 5k - 6k miles. I will be staying in the KOA campgrounds, sometimes in tents and sometimes in the cabins, sometimes with relatives.
My current plans are as follows:
Leg 1 - GA to MN to IO for AVR
Leg 2 - IO to Deadwood, SD to see the sights for 3 or 4 days
Leg 3 - SD to Ft Collins, CO for the "Thunder in the Rockies" rally
Leg 4 - CO to Wy (Yellowstone for 3 or 4 days)
Leg 5 - Back to Ft Collins, CO for a week
Leg 6 - Southern CO for some sightseeing (Bk Canyon, Mesa Verde, Durango, etc)
Leg 7 - CO to the Grand Canyon for 3 or 4 days
Leg 8 - Phoenix to play golf
Leg 9 - Phoenix to San Antonio to Mobile, AL to Ozark, AL to visit family
Leg 10 - Home
I will be carrying clothing, shelter, guns and golf clubs.
Anyone and everyone is welcome to come along. |

Hey I do a lot of grocery shopping with my vision and I am surprised at how much I can get in it. I can remember back when I was young and the only thing I had for transportation was a motorcycle, holding a gallon of milk between my legs on the tank. Now I can get 2 gallons in one saddle bag along with several smaller items.
But I agree that as far as trips I gotta have more cargo room, when it's just me I have room but when my wife is going along forget it. |

Regina Saskatchewan Canada | My thoughts are if I have to take any amount of gear I would much sooner pull it behind the motorcycle than carry all that extra weight on the back of the motorcycle. If you are camping all the better to have a trailer. It allows you to take along some creature comforts like pillows and extra blankets. I pulled a Bushtec trailer behind my Kasasaki Nomad and found it had very little affect on the handling or gas mileage. Most of the time I would forget it was even there. I believe that the extra weight on the back of the motorcycle instead of pulling a trailer affected the handling a lot more! Quite often the extra weight on the back made the bike top heavy.

You are correct about the trailer and traveling. I will carry some of the creature comforts that I normally would have to leave at home and still have the saddlebags and trunk for the fast access things.
I am looking forward to the trip.

I was just going to say the exact same thing. And you can actually get 2 gallon milk jugs and 1 half-gallon carton in each saddle bag.
My Vision has been my daily driver ever since I got it. I ride it rain or shine. My winter beater and my summer car have both been sitting out front of my house for so long that the batteries in them are dead.
But I agree that as far as trips I gotta have more cargo room, when it's just me I have room but when my wife is going along forget it.
I used to have that problem with my wife, but I finally got her to quit taking so much extraneous crap. Like g1Nomad, we just take a couple pairs of socks and underwear and an extra shirt and pair of pants. You can wash one set while you wear the other, thus minimizing the items we need to carry. Now, granted, we can't carry any golf clubs, so I can see where a trailer might come in handy. |
