Posts: 180 Georgia On My Mind.... United States | You may recall from my first post that my new iPod cable was too short to reach the factory iPod accessory cable(s).
Found the problem was the cable(s) from the radio was pinched beneath the bolt that holds the glove box assembly. Thus I couldn't pull it all the way to the glove box. See 1st pix below.
Also note that this bolt is sticking up a bit. The right side sister bolt is flush. See 2nd pix. what do I do to get this bolt to seat?
I went ahead and purchased the iPod extension cable and relocated the iPod adapter to the XM Radio box at the right side pannier. Pix #3. By the way, this accessory extension cable was about six feet too long! LOL.
Now the bad news. My old Nano iPod (3 Gbites, very old indeed) will not work. Do I have to buy a newer iPod Nano to allow it to function?

Posts: 180 Georgia On My Mind.... United States | Thanks Jimbo,
Read it but I still confused about the software version requirements.
Will try to borrow a newer iPod and see if it works. |

Did it work before you added the extension cable? Maybe one of the connections is not seated completely? Does the iPod work on its own without being connected to the bike? |

iPod works fine. Was using it with the headphone jack.
When I plug in the iPod to the new cables, it begins charging and the Victory logo appears on the iPod screen. BUT it will not play and none of the iPod controls work (on the iPod). Same results with two other iPods I tried. They were older iPods like mine. |

Posts: 44 Edmonton, AB Canada | My opinion would be that you got a faulty extension cable. If it charges and the logo show up, at least some of the 30 pins are connecting. It would seem that the ones needed to control the functions may be damaged.
I have a first generation iPod Touch, a second generation iPod Touch and a second generation iPod Nano that all work fine on my 2010 Vision. So I would say it is not the age of the iPod you are using. |

Posts: 180 Georgia On My Mind.... United States | Now you have me wondering..........
Since my cable coming from the radio was badly pinched....maybe the cable, at that point, was damaged? |

Posts: 180 Georgia On My Mind.... United States | Boy Do I Feel Stupid!
I took the Vision to my local big-time automotive audio guy. He couldn't figure out why the iPod wouldn't work properly. Said it must be a software problem or something.
Then, took the Vision by my local Best Buy and had their iPod Guru spend some quality time with it. No go. No answer.
When I got back to the hacienda, I decide to read the Vision handbook again.
Turns out after you go to the AUX mode THERE IS A SUB MENU.
From the handbook:
When AUX is active, the console screen will display "AUX" as the active source.
When iPod is active, the console screen will display "iPod" as the active source and iPod information in the display screen.
To change the mode, press the MODE button on the console repeatedly to toggle to the AUX mode.
Press (+) or (-) on the console panel to set the mode to AUX (for iPod or any other MP3 player use) or to NAV MP3 for navigation unit MP3 player use.
There you have it.
Now I feel a little stupid. But I'm enjoying listing to Van Halen as I'm riding down the road.
Thanks to all who tried to point me in the right direction.
ROCK ON DUDE!
