Posts: 309 Vineland, NJ United States | For anyone else who doesn't know (I didn't), I purchased a new OEM takeoff set of mufflers from a 2013 to install on my 2008 to make it a little quieter. I "assumed" I could just take the Gatling tips off my 2008 and re-install on the new OEM mufflers. Can't do it because the new OEM mufflers have an extended metal pipe with slanted end that is welded to the end of the muffler. Seems to me the only way the Gatlings will fit is if I cut that extended piece off? |

Posts: 309 Vineland, NJ United States | took Kevin's advice -- sawzall -ed it. Here are some pics. Had to remove heatshields to make a good cut, then reinstalled heat shields and new Gatling tips.

Posts: 3773 Pittsburgh, PA | oh i forgot to mentioned something... when i cut mine off, the first one i did the hard way.. i cut it off from the outside in.. between the muffler and the part i wanted to cut.. then i realized... i could sit my dremel INSIDE of the exhaust tip and cut it from the inside out.. way faster.. way smoother... live and learn i guess.. lol |

Posts: 219 Pittsburgh, PA | I really like the looks of these tips as well. I do get a lot of questions about them also. I just hate the amount of black soot that accumulates on them. You can not keep them clean and I really gave up trying. |

Posts: 309 Vineland, NJ United States | "Totally Awesome" cleaner, I get it at the Dollar Store or on Ebay, spray on, wait about 2 minutes, wipe off and they look like new. If stubborn I use a toothbrush and no problem. the ones in my pic above are from 2008 and they still look like new. http://www.lastotallyawesome.com/ |
