Lightening, fierce lightening, strong winds, blinding rain, one lane road construction, and out of it POPS a Victory Vision!
Last night East Bound on I-90 near Sious Falls South Dakota. One heck of a rider on one heck of a bike.

| Rode through a really rough storm on RT19 in VA about 3 weeks after buying my Vision. Wish I'd have known about the 60 mph gusting wind before I found myself on a 2 mile bridge, wet roads, pouring rain at 70 mph (WB wouldn't receive). I truly took every bit of riding skill I have to keep the Vision on the road. Probably handled as well as any bike would have with the severe gusts but I sure was glad to be off the bridge and road as soon as I could find a safe dry place to pull off.
I'm thinking 2 more inches of windshield would be nice, but thats a winter project......
As for the Vision in the rain? Handles just fine but I'll give everyone a little heads up. A couple roads I travelled on several trip this summer had short bridges crossing creeks/streams and the bridge entrance and exits required the bike to be leaned over as they were on bends. The metal expansion joint both entering and exiting gave the front E3 some issues with momentary slippage. It isn't terrible, but a bit unnerving if you don't expect it. So someting to be aware of so if you experience it you don't panic... Ride safe......T |

Northeast Ohio | I had a similar experience in Chautauqua NY a few weeks ago. Riding 2-up, rain started coming down in buckets, wind, etc. I was with a bunch of folks on HDs (Ultra Classics and Road Kings). I was laughing inside when both of us on the Vision were bone dry (except our faces - stock windshield). Then they all got off at an uncovered rest stop, I wasn't laughing any more. Then I had to breakout the rain gear. 
Are you guys running Rain-X on your windshield. My only concern was the inability to see thru the windshield with all the road mist that was accumulating. I am also going to get a 4" taller windshield for longer trips. |

, FL United States | DO NOT USE RAINX ON MOTORCYCLE WINDSHIELDS!!!!!!!!!!!! It's a petroleum based product & plastic windshields don't do well when exposed to them. Use a product that is made for plastic windshields: such as, Plexus www.PlexusPlasticCleaner.com I recommend it.

Never want to use Rain-X on plastic !!!
Basically Rain-X is a silicone oil that uses an acidic solution, and they top it off with a bit of alcohol. The acid etches into glass so the silicone beads the water, the alcohol is just an evaporative carrier for the silicone and acid.
The problem with using it on plastic is that it has a micro-coating on the plastic that helps protect it from u.v. rays and the enviroment. The acid in the Rain-X eats into this coating and eventually the plastic will crack/haze/yellow over time.
A lot of people swear by Plexus. And some folks use Pledge. As a matter of fact ask a person who owns an airplane what they use on thier plastic windshields and you will get a lot of "Pledge" answers.

Reno County, KS | Wow! Thanks for the heads up! I've already used the Rain-X pre-moistened wipes to clean my windshield/mirrors on the road once. I've washed my bike since then, so hopefully I'll be okay. Mostly I use spray way glass cleaner. I love the way that stuff smells!

Centennial, CO | I have to laugh at all my HD friends. They all were soaked from teh toes to the tops of the knees, crotch full of water and just miserable. They all had on leathers and rain gear. When we finally pulled over and got underneath a gas station, I got off, wiped off my face with a towel. I had on a jean jacket and nothing else but a half brain bucket. Man, they were pissed! THAT was right when I realized that I truly made the best decision. Oh...and they realized it too! One of the guys on the trip is not happy with his decision for an '09 UC now that he saw me do that and was more comfortable and better accessories for my purchase.
Oh...did I say...I LOVE MY VISION!!!??? HA HA! |

Leander,Texas | I recommend Armorol automotive window cleaner (no Amonia in it) it removes bugs and does not hurt your winshield. cheaper too! |

Western WA | I use Plexus on the shield, but on my previous bike I used Lemon Pledge. (Has to be lemon - I can't remember exactly what the different ingredient is...I think it is just more wax.)
In fact, I used to carry a pouch of Lemon Pledge Wipes and used them to polish the bike a bit on the road.
The only problem was bees. They were attracted to the Lemon Pledge. |

Sparta, WI | The top 8-12 inches of my feet get wet in the rain, so do my elbows and if it is really raining out I get wet. Even at the sweet spot of 62 mph. The back of my neck get's drenched. In fact the top of my head from my nose up gets it pretty good. This is a motorcycle, not a car. I have heard quite a few comments on people not getting wet in the rain. The envelope is good but it is not a roof. My advise, pack the rain gear, a good helmet ( full face if ya got one), and googles. Windshield wiper would be extremely cool.
