I year or two ago I was watching that TV show contest for inventors. One of the finalists was a woman who was making these special pad/cover things to go in wigs for women with cancer. But they expanded the demographic to firefighter helmets because it helped wick sweat away and keep their heads cool. Later, I think, they also were talking about using it for all kinds of helmet applications, including motorcycle helmets.

My question is, has anyone heard of these things and know where to get them? They're kinda like a more high-tech doo-rag, made of neoprene or goretex or somesuch thing.

Don't really know, but it wouldn't surprise me if the Under Armor type of material was being used. It is very good at keeping you cool and warm, pending on the type you get.

I remember that episode also and thought it would be a neat thing to have. But have not heard anything yet.

Now if someone would come up with something to prevent Helmet Hair, that would be a best seller.

Sounds like your talking about the cooling headbands. I'd been curious these things. Some kind of crystalization embedded into the textile that causes a cooling reaction when wet. MiraCrystal is one name brand. http://www.tuffrhino.com/Cooling_Bandanas_Headbands_s/46.htm
You can google that and see what it gets you. I can't remember the generic name for it. Some kinda poly crystal material or something. Lemme know how it works if you get it please.

I have all kinds of head-helmet liners. I sweat in 60º weather, and I am mostly bald. The best
ones are the most ebarrassing to wear, you slap your helmet on ASAP. The neat looking ones
don't cover enough, but are great with ½ helmets.

The big ones are these Microfiber Helmet Liners. The link isn't pulling them up right now, so I
guess they have too much money. http://www.coolingapparel.com/shop/headwear.htm

I like these small ones for my ½ helmet. http://www.dowrap.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code...
