Posts: 1117 Northeast Ohio | I have searched high and low on all the Vic sites for the factory paint codes. Does anyone have these? I plan on painting my lower wind deflector brackets before I mount them to match my Super Steel Gray Vision.
Thanks! |

| John, nope and you won't get them from anyone either. Victory is the ONLY one you can purchase paint from for your Vision from. So if you were wanting to mix it or get someone to do this for you, it's not going to happen. Sorry but a friend and fellow Vision owner is a big time Paint shop owner and filled me in. |

The good news is that you can order both touch-up and aerosol cans of our paint. Can was $11 and touch-up was $4. I should have it in the next couple of days. |

Posts: 79 Austin, Texas | Let me know how that works out for you. I had ordered the lower deflectors and just couldn't bring myself to put the black mounts on my SSG either. Ideally, Victory would chrome these mounts. Then they would look right at home on all colors.
Regardless, I'm interested in how it looks after your modification and also how well it works when you get it back on the road. |

Posts: 1290 Ruskin, Fl | I posted info on the paint in another thread. SSG was on the insert I got with my quart of black. I bought it throught the dealer, but this is the info on the can. Here is the orig. post:
Company name: M.I.C.I. Midwest Industrial Coatings, Inc
Address on can: 4910 12th Ave. East Shakopee, MN 55379
Large can (paint) SE5200 Black Mix 5 : 1 with SE5085
Small can (about a pint) SE5085 Activator
This time I have the documentation also. (This is my second quart. Not happy with the spray job and looking for somebody to redo it).
SE5000™ Polyurethane Basecoat
It lists all the specs. I can scan it for you if would like me to.
The list of available colors doesn't show cherry, but does list a Super Steel Grey SE5809 mixed 6 : 1 ratio.

| cw1115, yep what you posted is the application info. I believe he was looking to get the "paint codes" for having a paint shop "mix" it for him rather then buying through Victory/their supplier. MOST of the new paints be it for Victory, Harley, Honda or who-ever are kept from the market place so they can sell the paint by the can and make a profit. With the codes any paint shop could mix it themselves cheaper.
Perhaps I misunderstood what he was asking for, if so disregard what I've posted, lol.... |

I'm gonna disagree on this hope you understand
With a Dupont Chromavision color analyzer almost any color paint in the world can be coded. Basically its a high end digital camera that is held up against the color sample in 4-5 different areas and it snaps "images" of the sample and then analyzes the color and then produces a Dupont paint code that can then be transferred over to any paint manufacturer's system. This is a fairly pricey unit, so only some of the larger auto paint supply stores are going to have one available. Heck, you want to match the color of your bedroom walls or a fridge or your favorite bowling team shirt or whatever...basically any solid surface that has a color...one of these units will give you a paint code for it.
Give me a Super Steel Gray Vision for about 20 minutes and 99% chance I can give you a paint code within two hours. About the only thing we would have to do is set up the time for my paint supplier to bring out the analyzer.
Also...prior to installing the deflectors you might take a peek at my post about using the 3M adhesion promoter wipes http://www.vision-riders.com/bb/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=1689&pos...

Posts: 1117 Northeast Ohio | Prior to me purchasing the paint from Victory, my dealer told me about a place right down the street from them that does color match. He said they would take a picture of the trunk and make me paint on the spot. Sounds like they might have this color analyzer. The problem was time for me as my dealer is almost an hour away. |

I am going to disagree with the use of a Dupont Chromavision to find the Midnight Cherry paint code.
I took my '08 to the largest paint supplier in this city and had a personal friend who works there try to match the paint for me with no luck......just a FYI |

Posts: 935 Rockford, IL | Hmmm....kinda interesting. Out of all of the times we have used the Chromavision it has failed to get a sprayable code only about 3 or 4 times. And there has been a few times where we have had to tint a varience a bit. Now I'm kinda tempted to try..... |

Posts: 244 Tucson , AZ | I use to paint for a victory dealer here in AZ. The steel grey and midnight cherry would come out of the crates in different shades. When we bought the factory paint pack in to paint pieces, it waa a night mare. 4 out of5 times it did not match and i ended up using other paint with pearls to get the color right. I agree with LOTZAFUN... dupont has mastered the color match process. The best thing to do is find a good painter if you dont paint yourself ( that uses dupont) and have them tint the color to match. Its a process ... its a base coat with a mid pearl, followed by a clear coat. I must say im not impressed with the clear they chose to use on the vision. The clear is really soft. Good luck and hope this helps. |

Posts: 492 Indianapolis, IN | I was looking up body panels on one of the on line Victory Factory parts web sites and noticed that any of the illustrations I would pull up that had painted parts would also have a list of color codes that corresponded to the factory colors available. I'm not sure if these are actual paint codes but it seems to be consistent throughout their illustrations. Just a thought............... |
