You know you're a real, old-time, hardcore biker if:
___________________________________________________________

 1. If the only reason you have ever cleaned out the garage is to make room for ANOTHER bike. Never had a garage but I’ve had up to 2 bikes at a time.

 2. If you have a tool kit on your bike and the tools actually show signs of use.  Yep!

 3. If you look around your garage and realize that if you bought some gaskets and a chain you would have enough spare parts lying around to build another bike.  At one time, back when I first started riding.

 4. If your left boot has a shifter divot in the top of it.  (or right boot for some of the older scoots) Yep!

5. If your bike/helmet/gloves/leathers/patches/goggles were NOT all bought on the same day. Yep!

6. If you giggle your butt off when you hear somebody use the word "bro".   (yeah, I know, it USED to mean something) I don’t giggle.

7. If you have at least one custom part on your bike that you made yourself. (if you bought it off the  shelf it is NOT custom) Yep, many times. Fixin' to do that with the Vision. It's a secret, but will share later when I sucessfully fabricate it.

8. This one is a guarantee: You are definitely a real biker if you have ever bought a basket case and actually  put it together, got it running and rode it without having to take it to a shop/bike mechanic. My first bike(s), two CB350's to make one that ran.

9. The mere sight of a car with it's left turn blinker on gives you the willies. Yep.

10. When you think of customizing your bike, you think about sheet metal, welders and torches NOT credit cards,  Bike shops and mail order billet. Yep.

11. You refuse to EVER "Ness" up a perfectly good Harley. Never owned a Harley, but a Victory, Nessing is already there.

12. It took years before you would even consider owning an Evo and you are still doubtful that you will ever actually do it.  What’s an Evo?

13. If you think a grease rag and a hankie are one and the same. What’s the difference?

14. If you look under your bike and don't see any spots of oil on the ground you wonder what's wrong.  Nope, own a Victory and a Honda, look  ma, no oil!

15. If you are almost deaf in your right ear. What? That's really from growing up around diesel engines.

16. If you think Sturgis  just isn't as much fun as it used to be. Still got to make the trek, does that count me out?

17. You refer to the local Harley dealership as "The Boutique".  No, but the Victory dealer is the “Care Center” since Victory’s don’t have to go to the shop.

18. The term "Bean Blossom" doesn't make you think of gardening. Not yet.

19. You knew what a "ride bell" was before there was a letter about 'em in Easyriders. Well, I  had to catch up on that one, so does that mean I’m out?

20. If you have ever rigged a car/truck part to work on your bike. Yep, yep, yep. Geo Metro alternator on a Goldwing, with brackets and such.

21. You hop on a pre 60's bike and don't look for the starter button. Can.

22. When you ride through the neighborhood mothers take their kids inside. Well, on a Vision, they bring them outside.

23. You spend more time riding your bike than polishing it.  Yep, definitely!

24. It starts to rain while you are riding your bike and all you worry about is getting your smokes wet. Don’t smoke no more, but still, who cares if it rains?

25. You have huge oil stains on the living room carpet...and it doesn't bother you. Well, I’ve never  had a bike I had to bring inside.

26. You use old pistons for ashtrays, when you bother with using an ashtray that is. Never owned a Harley.

27. Dressing up to go out means wearing a -CLEAN-  black t-shirt. Yep!

28. You never ask the guy behind the counter "Will this fit on my bike?" Nope!

29. You have a goggle tan on your face - and it doesn't bother you. And I have tan lines on the back of my hands too!

30. When your bike breaks down on the side of the road your first thought isn't "how am I going to get home", its "I wonder where can I get a beer to drink while I fix this thing". I ride a Victory, and I’ve ridden a Honda, neither break down.

31. You have a good time riding your bike even if nobody sees you. Who cares if anyone sees me, it ain’t about them to start with.

32. If you own a trailer it's either got a boat on it or you live in it. Well, I use mine to haul trash, or a Har… let me stop right there.

33. If you can tell the difference between an Ironhead and a Knucklehead   just by the sound. Never owned a Harley.

34.You know why people who ride old Sportsters often walk with a limp. Yep, I remember my Uncle.

35.The patches/pins on your Colors are there for a reason other than decoration. Yep!

36. You think leather is for protection NOT fashion. Fashion?

Great stuff!! I went to a bike night last night. When I got back to the Vision ther was a card from a detail shop? Think they are trying to tell me something? Black T-shirt and leather ARE fashion. The only ones I know , anyway. Oh, and 501's. Ever get sooo drunk you get something caught in a zipper? 501's are the cure, not less drinking.

lol, man I can't believe that ole post is still floating around.....

I always love the "real biker" debates.....

My thoughts have always been we bike owners do whatever tickles our fancy. Some ride thousands of miles, some very few. Some wear lots of biker clothes and others day wear. Some tatoo'd and some not. Funny thing is we all do our own thing while sharing the common interest of motorcycles...... ain't it grand

I agree I am one of those guys who cann't stay put I have been riding for 37 years. I seem to buy bikes just for the hell of it as I surely buy bikes I don't need. I have had one of each sort of over the years. Remember the BSA 441 single used for the Hare and hounds races I had one as well as Square barrell Greeves. I have ridden on the dirt and sreet but for my money this Vision is the best bike I have had in long time. I am back to riding the magic carpert like I did in the days of my youth. See ya down the road. Archie

Archie:

BSA 441, Square Barrel Greeeves! Are we Bench Racing? Maybe we should start a thread.

Remember when Gary Bailey was the first American to win an International Motocross riding a Greeves Griffon wearing NO GLOVES!

Not just no chest protector / no face sheild / no shin guards / NO GLOVES! Bet Gary Bailey wouldnt care about AM Radio reception or belt squeal; but he probably cant hear now anyway after almost 4 decades of unmuffled 2 stroke engines!

I'm with you man this is the best bike I've ever owned or ridden.

Oh for the days when "a real man plucked out his wiskers with a clam shell! It was saftey razors what ruint this country!"
