Posts: 63 Corpus Christi Tx. | Has anyone installed a passenger backrest on their Vision? I'm looking for some insight on how the backrest is installed and is it a difficult task. Any info or pics of one on a Vision is appreciated.

It's like installing a trunk but you get a template you use to cut two slots into the panel on the Street version to accomodate the two uprights that support the backrest. Included with the backrest are a couple rectangular grommets that cover the slots you cut. They hug the uprights.
I'm buying an extra panel in MC so I can take the backrest off w/o leaving two ugly slots in the bike. I'm only going to be using it for vacation in a couple weeks; after that it's coming off till next vacation. I'll take some pics of it when I do but it appears to be a very straightforward install. |

| It is dead easy. Remove the seat, and license plate holder. Open both saddlebag doors and remove the panel that forms the center of the V for the tail light. This panel makes and H shape with the V being the central feature, its all push tab held in place. Next remove the blank off panel that you will cut to install the backrest. Place the template provided on the inside of this panel. You'll need a roto tool to cut out the two slots OR you might find a jig saw a bit neater using a fine plastic blade. SPECIAL NOTE: The template lines are set TOO wide, so cut to the INSIDE of the lines. Once cut you'll slide the backrest w/rubber sealing strips onto place, install the 4 backrest boltes and then install everything you removed in reverse sequence. Total job takes about 2 hours if you take your time.
PS... the backrest comes with TWO SPARE rubber inserts, one set for the backrest the OTHER SET are slid in place to fill the slots if you remove the backrest. In other words you do NOT need a spare panel. Hope this helps....... T |

Posts: 104 Plainfield Illinois | nahhhh, the replacement panel is a couple hundred bucks. It's worth that much to get rid of a couple of ugly rubber inserts (to me anyway)
call it vanity if ya want |

| Actually the replacement panel is only $100 if you have the right part number. |

Thanks to all who replied with some very helpful info regarding the backrest. I didn't know that Victory made a replacement seat for the Vision with backrests installed already....anyone know the part number by any chance....or I will look it up in the Victory website.
Thanks again to all and ride safe.

Posts: 238 SF Bay Area | I installed the factory backrest for the stock seat... mrs buddahead says it's fantastic. You might as well add the factory rack to the backrest as well... to fill up the empty holes! |

Any info is appreciated. |

Not only to fill in the empty holes but the backrest/rack makes a nice setup also. Thanks again to you and all the other fine folks that chimed in to help me out.
