| Ok so my bike has some bugs which has been the topic of late. So tonight I'm cleaning off the bike before an evening putt and a raise the windshield to clean the lowest portion. This isn't a normal practice for me (raising the shield) so I am wiping it down with Novus and I see what I think is bug guts outside of the lower screw/bolt. Rub and rub nothing so I go get my glasses.
It's not a bug its a crack, lol... from the bottom right bolt to the ws edge.
So this is where someone is thinking, "ah crap another issue" , nope just perfect timing.
I was toying with ordering a taller windshield anyhow but this will simply speed up my decision. I'm pretty sure the dealer can order me in the taller and discount the replacement of the stock with me paying the difference. I'll know tomorrow.
I just can't believe the luck I've had with this bike. If its minor or petty it crops up, but at least this time it will work to my advantage... |

Might be better optics and the price is close. I'm thinking about replacing my factory with one of these and cutting the original down. |

| cw1115, I don't care for the round top design of the CBailey ws. Besides it's a warranty repair so my dealer has ordered a new ws (+2" to replace this one. I am ordering the CBailey headlight guard....
Just so everyone knows the windshield was actually stress cracked at 3 of the 4 mount bolts, I missed the other 2 only seeing the one travelling to the ws edge.
For those NOT familiar with tour bikes, aka baggers, it is very common for stress fractures to form around the bolts. I wouldn't be concerned about them UNLESS the cracks travel to the windshield edge and are through the depth of the screen. Then by all means get it taken care of. Nothing worse than losing a WS at 65-75 mph (don't ask how I know, lol)... |
