Posts: 174 Edmonton, AB | Hi Chris,
OK...I'm not sure it this will work for a Garmin 2720 but it worked on my Zumo 550 so here is something you could try.
Connect the GPS to the computer with the USB cable.
Go to My Computer and you should see two icons...."Garmin F" and "Removable disk G"
In the Garmin F drive there should be another "Garmin" folder. Inside this folder you should see a JPEG file that is probably called "... _Splash_Screen" .
Copy the JPEG for the Vision Riders Screen Saver JPEG into the same location as the factory splash screen.
Rename the factory JPEG to be something else...suggest just adding a 2 at the end of it so it will be easy to change it back if needed.
Rename the Vision Riders JPEG to be the exact same file name that the factory screen saver was.
Safely remove the GPS and when you turn it back on it should now proudly display the Vision Riders JPEG as the start-up screen.
I hope this works for you....
Good luck and ride safe.
Todd.

I followed the Garmin instructions using the link above (the 2820 owners manuals also lists the link) and managed to change the splash screen. Just a note, I tried to manipulate the image size in Photo Shop by cropping it down to the required 454x240 size. After a few unsuccessful attempts I finally realized I could uncheck the "restrain parameters" box in the image re-sizing pane and adjust manually.
