| The oil filter is surround by the crossover pipe by nearly 180 degrees.
Being such, would wrapping the crossover serve as a efficient heat shield for the oil filter ? Would exhaust wrap have any adverse affects on the crossover pipe? Thanks,

Las Vegas, NV | My Vision is at the Ness dealer in Vegas having this done right now. They remove the chrome, wrap the exhaust, then replace the chrome. It's really well hidden underneath the heat shields. |

on the edge of Los Angeles | "SrBiff" may have the exact cost since it being done right now. Not real cheap since the entire system to do be R&R but they do have a package that includes an entire exhaust makeover. If you contact them I am sure they will be more than happy to go over the details.
They are real excited about what they have done and are willing to demonstate the performance gains...

| I'll pass on this mod.... Heat wrap wasn't designed to keep you cooler, it was designed to hold heat. Since the pipes were not designed (nor were the cylinders) to hold this much heat, I'll pass.
ps.. yes you will get better performance in the form of a fuller fuel charge due to the low pressure area created by the excessive heat retained in the headpipe. It is a trade off for the minimal performance gain. |

| Hi Mark, I spoke with Ness of Las Vegas. They do California bikes. They do the following: - PowerCommander for the Vision with custom maps.
- Pipe wrapping.
- Torque Cones.
- Thunder Stick Pipes (Their Vision version of the Thunder Headers).
- Tuning.
They said the Thunder Sticks give a lot of low end torque all the way up with no dead spots. I think I lost some low end when I put the Ness Big Honkers on my bike because there is not enough back pressure. I have to respectfully disagree with you on this point. Heat wrap has been used on headers for a looong time for exactly that reason: to keep the heat in. By keeping the heat in the exhaust system you actually let it flow better. Cooler exhaust is denser exhaust and is harder to push through the system than hotter gasses. By keeping the heat contained in the exhaust system by using something like heat wrap or ceramic coating you make it easier for the engine to expell the spent gasses.
There are some other reasons why it's good, but I don't want to bore you with header tuning and entropic effects. |

| rebel, you are correct in the wraps intent and if you reread what I posted you'll see that I said exactly that. My point if not clear was your Vision was not engineered with drag pipes in mind. Wrapping an "already" stuffed up exhaust system creates an excessive heat situation. Now iffin you have opened up your exhaust great. But I sure wouldn't wrap a stock system..... Again this is my personal opinion and you are free to disagree, but I'd be willing to bet good money Victory would NOT recommend you wrap either. |
